RAJOURI, June 9: Terrorists last night beheaded a young girl on the day of her ‘nikaah’ in Gambhir Mugalan under Manjakote police station’s jurisdiction while troops thwarted an infiltration attempt in Bhimber Gali sector killing a terrorist. Another woman was killed when the terrorists set ablaze three houses in Surankote.
Official sources said 23-year old Shagoofta Naz daughter of Karamat Hussain got married to Khalil Ahmed, a driver of Gambhir Mugalan in Rajouri last evening. She alongwith her husband, father-in-law, brother and other family members were on way to the house of her in-laws at Gambhir Mugalan when their vehicle was intercepted by the terrorists about half a kilometer short of Gambhir Bus Stand last night.
The terrorists, numbering three and carrying AK-47 rifles, kidnapped Shagoofta Jan, her brother Murtaza Ahmed and three others and took them to a forest area where they beheaded the bride. Other persons were released. The terrorists fled away after committing the crime.
Body of Shagoofta was recovered by police at 0500 hours today. Body was handed over to her family after completion of legal formalities.
Sources said Shagoofta Jan’s family had migrated from Gambhir Mugalan to Rajouri last year after repeated threats by the terrorists and were putting up in Ward No. 1. The terrorists wanted Shagoofta to appear before them to seek clarifications about her alleged connivance with the security forces. As the girl refused to obey dictates of the terrorists, the latter had set her house ablaze in Gambhir Mugalan in January this year.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case in the killing and started investigations. However, no arrest had been made so far.
Meanwhile, troops today encountered a group of six terrorists on the Line of Control (LoC) in Bhimber Gali (BG) sector in Rajouri and shot dead one of them. Five other terrorists retreated back to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) in view of effective retaliatory firing brought down by army.
Slain terrorist belonged to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit but hadn’t been identified so far. He was stated to be a Pakistani. Recoveries made from the encounter site included one AK rifle, four magazines, 175 rounds, one radio set, one Improvised Explosive Device (IED), three timer switches and some food items, recently procured from Pakistan, a Defence spokesman said.
In another incident, the terrorists set on fire three houses belonging to a police constable Azad Ahmed Khan, his brother and father at village Bunthal Mohalla Ustadan in Surankote tehsil of Poonch district last night.
In the fire incident, a woman Hanifa Begum wife of Mohd Naseem Malik was seriously injured. She succumbed to her injuries in the sub district hospital of Surankote.
Other family members managed to come out of their houses and survived. The houses were gutted and all household goods were reduced to ashes, the sources said.
Nikaah is the term for an islamic wedding ceremony.
Wonder what her transgression was that caused the jihadis to behead a ***MUSLIM*** girl.

Most likely, the poor girl's only "crime" was to voice an opinion differing from the terrorists'. She probably felt that murdering innocent people is order to conquer a few acres of land is a bad thing.
THIS is the main reason why almost no moderate Muslim will stand up and forcefully condemn the murderers.
Bet we won't hear any outrage from the Muslim community about this girl, abducted and beheaded on her wedding day. Heck, I don't even see any outrage from the GROOM in this article. Not even a QUOTE...though I'm getting tired and might have missed it.

Sounds pretty young to me, especially since I'm old enough to be her mother. Besides, it isn't her youth...it's her murder and why that is important.
I try not to hate, I really, really do. But terrorists, by their actions and mercilessness, make it very, very hard. Extreme outrage sounds too mild. These people are evil monsters. That, I have no problem saying outright. Nobody in the U.S. should have any problem saying that. Sadly, way too many do.

In socio-cultural terms, she's probably be referred to as a girl until after her marriage.
Which is irrelevant now, since she lost her head and not her virginity on her wedding night.
