[history]
DEERFIELD BEACH - Janet Reno, joined by actor Martin Sheen for a weekend campaign blitz, criticized Gov. Jeb Bush's record on education and the state's handling of children in its care.
More than 750 people at a rally in a retirement community here chanted "Reno, Reno" and held up placards in support of the former U.S. attorney general as she attempts to unseat Bush, a Republican.

"I run because I don't want this to be a state that neglects its children, that walks out on its children," Reno said. She must be starting to REALLY be mentally ill.
No candidate in their right mind with her track record would say such a thing

This from a cretin who kills children to "save" them. Anybody who sides with her is doomed or demented!!

Agreed, no decent human being would have participated in the murder of women and children at Mt. Carmel.
Not only did they participate, but they celebrated after the deed was done.
The fires of hell cannot be hot enough for reno and her minions.

Reno hits Florida campaignJust wait until Florida hits back, Janet

That's a lot of Alzheimers patients!
To: Excuse_My_Bellicosity
The rally was part of Reno's "Trucking Through Florida" tour.Gee Janet, can you have any more of a bulldyke slogan than that?

Caltrop re your statement here: Since he [McBride] won't promise to turn the state over to the homosexuals, the trial lawyers and the teachers' union he's got a really tough road to the nomination.
On that point, I must correct you for the record: Bill McBride has promised -- promised -- he would install a new office next to his in Tallahassee, and that new office will be for: the teachers union.
Now, if you happen to be a union teacher having problems with the union, well, says Bill McBride via his promise above: Tough luck, honey.

I dont think there has been an official nomination yet, but there doesnt seem to be any strong challengers to Reno's campaign from within her own party.
Its my understanding there will probably be more primary candidates, thanks to a new law that does away with the second primary, or runoff election, for the 2002 election only. So chances are the parties will support more candidates, since it takes just a simple majority to win. Previous law required the top two candidates to face off in an expensive runoff election if neither could get the 50-percent-plus-one vote required to win.

Thanks, Summer. I wasn't aware of that. IMHO he's very liberal and will certainly climb into bed with all the usual Democratic interest groups if elected. I do, however, think he's playing it smart at this point because his pandering seems to be largely below the radar. If, by some miracle, he wins the Democratic primary he'll be positioned to take a middle of the road posture. Without a record to defend and with Senator Bob Graham standing next to him he'll be formidable. Against Reno Bush wins 70 - 30. Against McBride it's a close race.

I don't think there'll be any more Democrats entering the race. In fact, State Representative Lois Frankel just dropped out. That leaves Reno, McBride and State Senator Daryl Jones.

I still don't even think it would close, caltrop. Gov. Bush has too much going for him. But, it would indeed be a "miracle" if McBride won the Dem primary! REcount!!!! :)
