Pray for the man on the |
Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo told President Bush on June 7, 2002 her government would hold Muslim rebels linked to Osama bin Laden accountable for the death of American missionary Martin Burnhams, held hostage with his wife for more than a year. The Burnhams are seem with Abu Sayyaf Muslim guerrilla leader Abu Sabaya (L) in a hideout on Basilan island, the southern Philippines, in this undated file photo. (Reuters) |
Too bad about the unfortunate fate that's come to these missionaries...
Good and decent people, but marching to the beat of a different drummer from my perspective.
When you're dealing with mad dogs, but have a yen to evangelize them, I say drop books or transistor radios on them to spread your message.
That way, if you have to drop bombs on them later, you've already got your pilots familiar with the area...
True. And I can't remember hearing whether they were even targeted as 'missionaries'. (as opposed to simply appearing to be Americans, or westerners)
Nor will I argue that, at this point in history, that we're even safe in our own homes in Heartland, USA.
But there are clear cut, definite actions that we can take (or avoid taking) to lower our risk of suffering such a fate, and -sadly- they didn't choose to follow that course.
Now the only thing left to do is to kill the rest of the bastards who started the fight. Preferably in a way that is so grisly that the natural human desire for revenge on the part of their fellow-travelers is quelled by the horror that the manner of their deaths evokes.
He was apparently killed today in a rescue attempt. Mrs. Burnham was seriously wounded and is hospitalized. A very sad and disappointing conclusion to this horrible incident.
Shouldn't you pray for him first and shoot him second? Not much sense in praying for a dead man.
At the rate things are going, the world might be discombobulated enough to where we could get away with doing that again before another year passes by!
Till then, I say feed the bastards pork whenerver possible and then deny it to the 'press' like Eddie Haskell would...
"Honest Mrs. Cleaver, I would never feed the Beaver any pork!"
