And I think all to many people purposely start using the bashing argument the second any question or criticism is voiced. Anyone who can read and has even a slightly objective mentality would recognize this.

Bush, Sr. had a 80 to 90% approval rating at the end of the Gulf War, and then lost to Bubba less than two years later.GHWB made the mistake of declaring victory and bringing the troops home. His son won't follow in those footsteps.....

You have been downright disappointing, Rush. Can't even bring myself to listen to you anymore. And to think that just a few months ago I would even tape your shows.
To: F16Fighter
Quoting Jesse Jackson on Bill Clinton is somehow supporting your point? It's one thing to have a pissing contest; it's quite another to use the hoses of those two bozos.
Huh which quote are ou talking about. The non-existant one where jesse jackson calls clinton, Ronald Reagan clinton, or the existant one where rush calls Bush, George W. gore.

Given the closeness of the election, I think that his pre-9/11 approvals were surprisingly good. And, as I said before, historically they were very good.

Methinks the lady doth protest too much.
To: ridensm
I disagree. Most of the people who defend Bush from the demonization have criticized him themselves.

I doubt a huge number of people will blame Bush (at least I won't) if another attack happens. I know it is impossible to be perfect at stopping attacks. I am not sure how many are as realistic as me, however.
To: RJCogburn
Considering the post election screwups and a divided country, I'd say mid 50 looked pretty good.
To: RJCogburn
Of course it seems that way, but historically, that is pretty good.

self-pitying garbage.I guess that expression saves wear and tear on the brain. Many intelligent commentators have expressed their disappointment with Bush's decisions on the issues Rush mentions. I guess they should be advised their opinions are disqualified as 'self-pitying garbage.'

Exactly! C'mon, F16Fighter, you know better! Remember when Clinton was in trouble for sexual harassment and the NOW gals stood by their man? You won't find any quotes from them crticizing Clinton! And we here at FR never excortiated them for abandoning their supposed "principles." So why for goodness sakes would you tolerate Rush not following their lead?
To: TLBSHOW
After 3 days Rush still doesn't get it.

Please tell me where Bush has been accused of lying under oath? Oh well, you all can take a NYT story as the "gospel", that's your problem.
BTW, if Rush ever does a real "mea culpa" over this, I would suggest his radio engineers to get out of the way and take cover, because of the rock hard peojectiles that will be going through the glass as his head explodes.

What was phony about the NYT story? Ari Fleisher said yesterday that the President agreed that humans are a primary cause of global warming.

I made a resolution not to participate in another Bush/Rush thread, but, oh, well.
I also made a resolution not to listen to Rush for a while, since I was no longer enjoying it. I also wish Bush would do some things differently, but, yes, I trust him, and believe he has good reasons for what he does.
The problem with the Rush thing is that, for some reason, he can't get over it ... he rants too much and he has gotten to the point where he is rude with well-meaning callers, something he never did in the past.
He was so sarcastic with a caller named Ed a couple of weeks ago that he got a lot of e-mails about it and then he said, oh, I didn't mean to be sarcastic; oh, if I insulted the guy, I'm sorry.
He knew perfectly well what he was doing and he did it anyway. I can't stand talk show hosts who are rude to guest callers and that was something I always liked about him.
He worries about Bush forsaking his base, but Rush is in more danger of losing his own base.

Well said. I am glad Rush is hammering GW on the global warming issue.
The White House is still sticking with: "humans are mostly responsible for causing global warming"
and I find that very hard to swallow.
They sold out Rush did not.
No, I would still vote for GW if the election was today, but he should stick with "real science"
in the future, instead of "Junk science"

The day he decides to become nothing more than an echo-chamber for whoever happens to be the titular head of the GOP, will be the day he deserves to lose audience.

Last I heard, Rush's audience is bigger than ever. The last you "heard" must have been during the 2000 election, IMHO.
rush doesn't even "tout" his ratings anymore, the reason probably being he can't.
