Thanks for the reminder.
God Bless America.

"Thank you" is so insufficient, but what else is there to say?

God bless all of our fighting men and women, past present and future...

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

Salute to:
Jake McNeice of Ponca City, OK
Parachuted in on D-Day; survived three more parachute drops during WWII, making him
a member of a fairly elite club.
Ended up a quiet, unassuming mail carrier in my hometown.
Professor J.Q. Lynd of Stillwater, OK
Managed to make it over the beach on D-Day
Honored, with his comrades, at the dedication of a memorial in Belgium a couple
of years ago.
He became a Professor at Oklahoma State Univ.; did groundbreaking work on aflatoxins.
And last but not least,
Della Mast Mitchell, my maternal grandmother; did her part by wiring the control
panels of planes at the Boeing plant in Wichita, KS during a few summers when she
was not teaching grade school. Went to her reward last spring, "full of years".
They were just three of the many...but they are the ones that I knew.

In Flounders fields where poppys grow
Between the crosses row on row.
Tis hallowed ground.
