Never forget that Rush is not an activist, not a philosopher; he's just an entertainer!

You just fell for the myth that the left has passed around for years. Rush has more political smarts in his little finger than you have in your head.

Sure thing, qidnunc. When Bush talks like a liberal y'all tell us to watch what he does instead. When he acts like a liberal y'all defend him by quoting what he said. That strategy served the Clintonoids well too, but it only works on someone dumb enough to be a fan of a politician.

You were making better sense in your earlier comments. FR is not nearly as 'kooky' as it used to be. It's been sanitized (thanks to plenty who share your pov and have been able to influence what is and is not acceptable). You must love it.

Rush is an entertainer, remember? He entertains with commentary, analysis, parody---whatever works on any given day. He's not obligated to toe the party line (although he mostly does) 24/7, and there is no rule that says he can't poke some fun at Bush or any other conservative whether they deserve it, or not.

Also: has it occurred to you that he might be using the absurd to illustrate the absurd(er)? Maybe his idea was to draw conservatives together and compel them to stand behind Bush and the GOP by giving us a dose of what is down the road. Maybe it was a lesson about tactics and thin-skin. It's going to get a lot worse as elections heat up, and when it does, Rush will be one of the first to defend the GOP. He'll go to battle with the radical left like he always does. Meanwhile, we will be busy bitching at each other about how Rush doesn't "get it". If Rush can manipulate us so easily, what's it say about our ability to cope when it's coming from the real enemies of conservatism? (Rush isn't the enemy.)

Bump again. I still say Rush is the only one that can take B.J. Clinton out of the picture by showing those video clips of his. He's the only one folks. Rush should write a book and call it "It Will Be Known As Scam-a-lot." and include a DVD with all of his video clips. It would break sales records.

LOL I just KNEW that his comment would get people going! Of course you DO know that he did this just to get wank your chain?

Rush, chain yanker maximus. Maybe there is a parody of "going FReeper" set to Heart's "Crazy on You" coming soon.

"....lemme go free-per on you, lemme go free-per on you, lemme go freeee-per, freeee-per on youuuuuu-ewwwe, ohhhh, ahhhhhhh....."

That's exactly what Rush was doing---taking credit for changing the President's mind when the President never changed his mind, not when the report was released, not after.

Even Mara Liaison (sp?) says so.

I thought that parody stunk and that, once again, Rush was rude to a long-time listener. Somebody who has been listening to Rush for ten years, as the caller says, doesn't turn on him on a dime. But Rush sure does.

Obviously Rush does not agree with his longtime listeners' criticism, but that does not justify his "don't-let-the-door-bang-you-on-the-butt-when-you-leave" attitude.

Agreed, Rush was insulting Freepers, just like he's been regularly insulting his LOYAL, LONG-TERM listeners who call with their concerns about his recent analyses.

If he keeps on insulting his long-term listeners, he will then find out who the fringe truly is, because they will be the only ones calling his show.

Agreed. I appreciate Rush criticizing the administration when appropriate (big caveat), but I also would like a little something uplifting once in a while, such as putting that criticism into context of positive things Bush has done.

There are many. See Reaganman's list for starters.

Is it okay to stop listening to Rush's show because it's boring, annoying, and no-value-added to news we already have?

Oh, and because he takes care to be nice to liberals but insults his long-term listeners who dare to criticize him?

You are wasting your time. No matter what Rush says or does, OldFriend hates him. Just months ago, OldFriend was criticizing Rush for being TOO EASY on Bush. So this person will not be satisfied.

Yes, and for all those saying Rushis simply being consistent with his principles, go figure that during the primary all he preached was--

* don't wander off after McCain or whoever because politics is the art of compromise and

* people need to not be single-issue voters and

* should support the guy with the mostest (not "all," as Rush is holding Bush to now) with the best chance of winning.

Exactly! Rush has preached and preached against ideological purity when it was necessary to get Bush into office---and berated lots of callers for thinking otherwise---and now, as you point out, he's the one demanding ideological purity.

If he wants to findout who the true fringe wingnuts out, just keep going downthat road.

This is the point: criticizing Bush is fine, but let's put it in a little perspective with the very positive things he is doing.

Talk about Kool-aid---these shows are so unrelentingly negative . . .

Barry Goldwater had many fine conservative ideas. He also was a pro-abort who praised Margaret Sanger and who thought devout Christians were extremist whackos to be avoided. Funny that a Brigadier would cite Goldie, who favored international power projection (not "closed borders"), aggressive use of military power overseas, and, to my knowledge, immigration.

Rush also put the Algore comment as a big banner on his website and ran a graphic of Bush morphing into Algore. Hardly only a listener's sentiment.
