In thje past Rush has made it known that he was a loyal Republican.

In the past, Rush has ALWAYS said that he was a conservative who happened to be Republican because the DemocRATs sure weren't. Live with it.

You're WRONG!

For years Rush referred to Republican politicians as "my guys".

He bragged about being responsible for electing the GOP congressional majority in 1994.

He addressed the freshman GOP class of 1994.

He considered himself a Republican so YOU get over it.

This isn't about whether Bush and Rush are patriots or not. I think they're both patriots. I don't think Bush and Rush are playing off each other either. That's too convoluted. And this isn't about criticizing the President or the Republican Party either.

What this is all about, is Rush Limbaugh doing what is best for his radio show and nothing else. If that means Rush stepping over the line and insulting the President, now we know, so be it. Rush is a conservative Republican, but his main interest and concern in life, is the success of his radio show. I defy anyone to tell me, that Rush has a more important issue in his life, then his radio show. Rush is an entertainer, first and foremost and that's not ever gonna change.

With all the publicity that Rush has gotten the last few days( at least 2 mentions on NBC Nightly News),one blurb in our local rag today,it's hard to get away from the Algore remark. Rush seems to have forgotten that we are at war, some of us live with that fact, every day. Rush will never, ever know what it feels like to send a child off to war. He will never know the tremendous sense of pride one feels, almost as if your heart would burst, seeing your handsome son in uniform, as he leaves to defend our country. He will never know the cold chill that grips your soul, when you hear bad news on the tv and the mention of soldiers lost. Rush never has to plead with God, to let it not be your son.My sense of humor was drastically altered on 9/11. I will give Rush no pass on his treatment of our Commander in Chief, absolutely none, during this time.

You're WRONG!

No. You're wrong. Perhaps you should listen a bit more closely.

What are you? One of these "My party, right or wrong" robots?

By the way, in case you haven't noticed, the "home page" of Free Republic talks about Conservatives, not Republicans. In many cases, there's a big difference.

I have to admit, sabertooth, that that new kitty of yours just begs to be animated.

LOL! Excellent observation!

"Seems to me that a number of the anti-Rush and anti-Bush comments are Freudian reflections of the poster. "

Another good observation.

Agreed that Rush's top priority is his radio show. I would add his family in as another priority which is ahead of his conservative views.

I'd say that's true for most of us. Our work and family come before politics.

Do you think Rush has altered his conservative principles in order to boost his radio show?

Just because the "home page" of Free Republic says a thing doesn't make it Holy Writ.

Now as a practical matter there are only two parties that matter, the GOP and the Democrats.

The Losertarian Party, the Reform School Party, and all the rest of the wingnut parties, right and left, are on the periphery of American politics.

Because as a conservative the Democrats are antithetical to everything I believe, that leaves the GOP.

I make my opinions known to my legislators but once a policy is decided upon, I accept it because the alternative would be even worse.

To dabble around with the politics of the lunatic fringe in the belief that one is standing on principle is nothing more than mental onanism.

What an accurate picture of them that congers up. For those who don't know what quid's talking about, you can "get the picture" if you look in Genesis 38:9. :D

Do you think Rush has altered his conservative principles in order to boost his radio show?

Yes I do. Especially in recent weeks. Not only has Rush become highly critical, almost hostile to the President's political agenda, he seems to be taking almost a reactionary absolutist approach to politics. All of a sudden, it's taboo for Bush to compromise on certain issues, in order to get a partial victory. It's all, or nothing at all. Rush should know, better then most conservatives, that strategy, simply doesn't work. If need be, you compromise on principles, but you don't surrender your principles. Ronald Reagan lived by that philosophy. For some reason, Rush doesn't believe, what was good enough for Reagan, should be good enough for Bush. Go figure.

Never forget that Rush is not an activist, not a philosopher; he's just an entertainer! What he says may or may not be right, it may or may not reflect Conservative values, but it is all done to ENTERTAIN.

You are quite right, but at the same time you have to have a grain of truth in order to be/sound funny. I like Rush a lot, listened to his show since 1989 on,but lately, I have to admit he is veering off the path.
If you want examples it will take several pages to explain it, suffice to say that monetary compensation has changed the man and his message as expected, hence the need to borrow FR to get attention.

In my book it is time to bow out in full glory, and go on on another venues.(cigars, golf, football take your pick)

What personal ambitions are you referring to? I stated Buchanan put his country before party and you stated that was due to him going after personal ambitions? Then you wrote the following:

The same one's that crossed your mind, when you read my post.

If you are a mind reader, what crossed my mind?? Your post never did indicate what these personal ambitions where???
