"Read the part about the free trade winds and El Nino", Bush suggested, breezily.

"The extents of... sugar maple probably will contract dramatically in the United States, shift into Canada and cause loss of maple syrup production in northern New York and New England.

Now there's a tragedy of titanic proportions.

I don't give a crap about Bush's ratings. I supported him when only 47% of public did (according to the pollsters.) Polls and statistics are so scientifically unreliable when it comes to measuring people's perceptions that placing any faith in them is like pissing into the wind.

Did Rush say that he called the WH or the WH called him? My money is on Mary Matalin.

Oh, no, don't say that. You know very well that Rush is "connected"..........everybody says so. He had to have talked to George, maybe even Laura.

Hey, I'm surprised they didn't call him!

He said, "I talked to the White House this morning," not mentioning any names.

Have you ever just looked at someone and got a chill up your spine (door is WIDE open for Hillary and Janet remarks...), well that's how I feel when I see Karl Rove. And that chill gets worse when I see him next to the President.

Glad I waited to hear from the man himself.

Oh...this is just the bureaucracy doing whatever it is they do. Gosh. I'm so relieved. I mean, now that I know Bush didn't write this personally (unlike Gore, who might have). In fact, I'm glad to hear that Bush doesn't believe what the report he ordered done says, and the fact that his own administration, via the EPA, created the report.

Nope. There's nothing to see here, folks, just a bunch of bureaucrats. Move along.

Rush owes the President of the United States an apology!!!!!!!

Yes he does, big time. Let's see if Rush can redeem himself. Until he does, he can kiss my listening goodbye. I've been a loyal listener for seven years...

The President is NOT a weenie who governs by polls or sticking his finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing. The PREVIOUS president governed according to trial balloon.

IOW, the White House wasn't aware of what the report contained, and upon learning its contents is distancing itself due to philosophical differences. I agree.

Kalee Kreider, global warming campaign director for the National Environmental Trust, an advocacy group, said environmentalists want from the administration a climate change plan that joins with other nations in requiring carbon dioxide emission reductions and increased fuel efficiency requirements for vehicles.
"It's good they've done a 180-degree turn on the science. Given the audience, they pretty much had to," Kreider said. "But we're still waiting for a plan that mandates pollution cuts."

You knee-jerk BushBots had better not count your chickens before they hatch.
Bush will sign a Koyoto treaty, but the name will just be changed to something more "pleasureable" as to not offend anyone.
It will be an issue for 2004, especially since Bush publically announced global warming is real.
I don't think you folks should be so gullable.

We boycott Rush from now on....he crossed the line with the line .....President George W Algore!

I disagree. As soon as that report came out Bush should have gotten a statement to the press...basically saying what he said today. It was Bush's EPA that sent the report--his appointed staff should have killed the report before it even saw the light of day. And if it did squeek out they should have quickly got on record as discrediting the report. Instead they waited for the public reaction to decided on what to do. Not exactly leading is it? Kind of reminds me of Clinton...so the comment still makes sense.

Bush has to learn the ends don't justify the ways. This is typical political behavior that I was sick of under Clinton...and now I see Bush doing similiar things.

No, I think that the NYT article was just an attempt to separate Bush from his conservative base.

That may be the case for some, but I think you are confusing criticism for abandonment. In this case, it appears that the criticism had exactly the desired result: the President acknowledged as much by distancing himself from the report today.
