I agree. IMHO, we'd be seeing a lot more of other issues pushed had we NOT suffered the events of 9/11 as well as the Jeffords switch. Both events forced Bush to back-burner some issues, and forced compromises elsewhere, IMHO.

We need to roll up our sleeves and get to work, IMHO.

He is making O'Reilly look like the Sunshine Man.

That's for sure... I've begun looking around the dial for O'Reilly's show myself...

I appreciate your sentiment, but I would like to point out (AGAIN) that just because I don't agree with Rush's criticisms of the President, that does not mean I am a person who is blindly supporting the Fuhrer. Puh-leeze.

I just simply do not agree that most of Rush's criticisms are deserved. You, on the other hand, apparently think they are deserved. That doesn't mean I'm blindly loyal to Bush; it just means I am evaluating his performance differently than you are.

It gets pretty tiresome, every time a person thinks a criticism of the president is not well-founded, he gets slammed as a butt-kisser.

I'll walk away from Bush in a heartbeat if I conclude that is justified. But I sure as h-e-double-toothpicks won't walk over some dumb-glute paper on global warming. You may not agree with my conclusion, but don't label me a goosestepper, okay?

Rush just said the last caller was an example of how W has cornered the Soccer Mom crowd. NOTHING he does can make them turn against him.

Perhaps that is because they aren't HOPING to find anything to smash Bush with, unlike a lot of people around here.

Nonsense. If we're talking politics over substance, then this is going to produce a big win for Bush.

Uh-huh. Yeah, I can't wait to see the puff pieces in the NYT and LAT bringing the news to the masses about Bush being "pro-environment". When's the 3 minute segment on "NBC Nightly News" airing that hypes the new and improved "Mr. Environment", George W. Bush? When can I expect to see Peter Jennings smiling and piling on the positive adjectives in describing this report and the Admin. reaction?

Wake up. The media will highlight TWO THINGS AND ONLY TWO THINGS: 1. The very existence of this report will be described as a "back-flip" on the credibility of "global warming" by the Bush team; and 2. the fact that the report also says (no, I haven't read it, and no, I'm not going to read it since I HATE government junk science BS) the Admin. won't change policies will be trumpeted as further proof that Bush is in the back pocket of "polluting big business".

No 30 second campaign ads, or bleatings from the conservative press ghetto is going to change those perceptions.

Face it, this is a loss.

Thanks (yeah, that was me under the name Hugh Akston).

Look, as Sci Fi Guy above added to my earlier post, there are some very good things that have been done. I can't and won't overlook those. But at the same time, some of the moves have been hard to square with my views, and this is one of them.

#131: "Most of the people in the US believe global warming is real. Bush's stance isn't a radical one."

Most people in the US voted for OWLGore.

Your point?

Then we are forced to believe that numerous American scientists are either totally stupid or totally marxist. I don't believe either of these assertions, but instead believe that there may be honest disagreements over interpretation of data.

With Bush in charge, there seems to be a large crowd operating on "der fuehrerprinzip" - anything the "leader" does must be right. One thing's for sure - Bush will get neither my money or my vote this time unless dramatic, sweeping and unlikely changes take place. Like a little justice from the Injustice Department. Or like some actual reduction in government, instead of profligate, unwarranted and continuous expansion.

Good point, a so-called conservative who promotes a liberal agenda, is more dangerous than a liberal because he can get away with it. In the long run, there is no more disasterous path for conservatism to take than to slowly morph into liberalism. What is going on here is that a few bones are being thrown to conservatives on specific issues, but the overall direction is moving left. For "Old Right" conservatives, the overriding issue was the size and role of government. The modern conservative movement has abandoned any pretense of limiting government to its constitutional mandates. The growth of government has been GREATLY accelerated under Bush and that is of more concern to me than all of the other single issues put together.

Seems like it has been slow summer news days for the last few weeks. This is just another yawner of a story. I went to the library this morning and checked out a few mysteries to read until we really get some stories worthy of going in the breaking news column again.

So let me get this straight: Bush is completely reversing his position...

Your effort failed.

"George W. Al Gore, anyone?" Limbaugh slammed, just hours after the NEW YORK TIMES headlined "Climate Changing, U.S. Says in Report."

I missed a wild show I guess?

I wish my part of the globe would warm sometime soon! We have been 5 to 15 degrees cooler, all this year, here in the upper peninsula of Michigan. I am about to go outside with an aerosol can in each hand and start spraying towards the ozone.

Drudge is not jumping the gun. He is rightly ripping Bush for the socialist one worlder that he is. In fact his most appropriate question to date has been: "What's left of the democrat agenda other than abortion that Bush can advance for them?"

Amen. Lately I almost feel as if I am trying to have debates and discussions in a giant fan room, with what I am saying and what I am trying to hear drowned out by the screaming of the motors and the whir of the blades.

I love a good debate and a good philosophical or strategic discussion, but the flaming is getting way out of hand, IMO.

Got any ideas?

It must be as it is far too complex for my advanced intellect! :^)

Yes, I feel so overwhelmed that I think I'll turn on Jerry Springer and have myself a beer...maybe several beers. After all, I don't need to think. I've got the government to do that for me.

ALT-F4 is far too powerful if there are things coming and going all the time on your multi-monitor screen. It will zap whatever it thinks it is on top, which might be different from what the over-burdened and distracted user computer operator might think it is. Best to let things settle and try to use the mouse. Not as efficient and not as dangerous.

Russian Limbaugh should be ripping Bush. Limbaugh is the one who got him the nomination and every time Bush does something stupid, it makes the Russian look bad.
