Fact 1: a bureaucratic report, not a policy document;

Really? A beruaucratic report that was NOT releaesd to the press, because they were SNEAKING it to their masters over at the UN--They didn't want anyone to know about it!!! And when the Democrats present a total,whack-job, SUV-killing, $7.00 per gallon/gas environmental bill that is SO outrageous, that even Bush has to veto it, it BECOMES politics!!! And guess who has the issue again? What if he DOES sign the bill? Then it is no longer politics, it is REAL, EVERYDAY LIFE!!!

Fact 2: Sent forward to avoid appearance that American Petroleum Institute had influenced the administration's position.

Like I said earlier, He proves that he isn't a pawn for "big oil"! Instead he is a pawn for US hating globalists!!! I'd rather have him a pawn of "Big oil"! If this is true, it is STUPID and INDEFENSIBLE!!! What an amateur, BS way of doing this! I thought his Florida capitulation was supposed to do this!!!

Fact 3: This is politics, folks, and good politics. Rush, Drudge and Sean totally dorked up their reporting and analysis.

No, this is NOT politics, folks!!! It is Incredibly shortsighted INSANITY. Does he think this will get him votes? from who? Environmental wackos would STILL vote for Algore...Why have a FAKE, PHONY treehugger (Bush) when you can have the REAL thing (algore)? This strategery is absolutely RETARDED!!!

Since you are "inside the beltway", don't you realize that almost EVERY political issue is based on LIES, DISTORTION, and appearance over substance? Even if this report WAS what you say it was, the APPEARANCE is that global warming is REAL!!! THe UN now has the drive and the power to go after us. This gives a LIE (global warming) validation and legitiacy.

This BS was based on erroneous and obsolete computer data calculated by Clinton administration environmental researchers. Bush didn't read it, and he's now backtracking!!! You CAN'T polish a TURD! You can try, with your beltway BS spin control, but it won't work on me! I see this for what it is. Slouchung towards UN utopia part II.

"Meet The New Boss...The SAME As The Old Boss!!!

I guess Bush should of just violated the law and refused to release it? Is that what Rush wanted? Didn't we have enough of that crap under Clinton?

If Rush is running the George W. Algore comment as a banner on his website, without qualification or denouncement, seems to me he might as well have said it.

You are right: the NBC clip damaged Rush much more than Bush. People have gotta be thinking SAY WHAT????

I understand Rush's take on this issue. That's the problem.

Based on what I understand of today's press conference, it sounds like Bush and Rush are in agreement on the issue. What remains to be seen is whether the report was released without the knowledge of the White House, or whether the conservative critiques changed the WH's mind.

Rush says it's the the interpretation of the report that matters

Ding Ding Ding!!! we have a winner!!! I think you should Re-post what you just said to "all", so even the braindead, hopeless, apologists see this Pearl of Wisdom!!!

Like I saide arlier, now Bush is DISMISSING the EPA report!!! This PROVES: 1.) The mental midget didn't read it, and 2.) He didn't clean house over at the EPA. JE$U$!!! He had 18 MONTHS to do this!!! After dealing with a envirowacko during the election, one would think this would be the FIRST thing he would have done!!!

If "every political issue is based on lies, distortion and appearance over substance" then why are you involved in politics at all?

From what I understand it was "an annual report" written by the Clinton administration. In other words, Bush didn't have a right to say yes or no when it came to releasing it by law. In other words, Bush would violate the law if his administration failed to release it.

What irks me is that Rush won't let go of it. My goodness, does he think his audience doesn't understand. Talk about beating a dead horse. Whack, whack, whack

Well, in part perhaps that's because he's been smeared all over this forum. Did you read some of the comments from yesterday? I would certainly expect him to defend himself in the way of clarifying his position. After all, as Alan Simpson says, "An attack unanswered is an attack confirmed."

However, big however, if Rush let that characterization slip without commenting that saying Bush is like Algore is ridiculous...

If my memory serves me correctly (and I normally have a pretty good one), I believe he did in fact say those very words. ("Saying Bush is the same as Algore is ridiculous.")

Like I said before, Rush's comments are constantly taken out of context. Really, we on this forum should know better by now.

This whole thread is irrelevant, Rush just said Bush has
dismissed this report out of hand. He gave Bush credit and
praise for doing the right thing.

I personally believe Bush better clean house, if he has to
continually put out these little fires.

That's what I suspect as well. There are way too many reports published for the WH to proofread every one. That's part of the problem when you're heading a massive bureaucracy - things are done in your name with which you may disagree.

Exactly. Someone, colorado tanker, I think, posted this report was required by law every three years and it was prepared mostly by the previous administration.

The article on the press conference said Bush "dismissively" rejected the report drafted by the "bureaucracy."

Another reason Rush, who knows Bush's character, should have had sense enough to give him the benefit of the doubt.

If "every political issue is based on lies, distortion and appearance over substance...

I said ALMOST every issue...

"then why are you involved in politics at all?

I am involved in politics because I wish to change this current sad state of affairs...

Rush always gets a good dose of bashing here. In the main, I like him and listen to him regularly. I do think that he tends to beat issues into a pulp, like this one. Moreover, he has not gotten his facts straight and has run with a deceptive story out of the NY Times, for heaven's sake. Rush should have known better...

Did anyone else hear the comment Rush made about "speaking to the WH this morning" about the report? I got the feeling that this occurred before the WH came out against the report.

After reading the copy, on the air, containing President's Bush's comments about "the bureaucracy," Rush said "I have figured it out...but I can't say it on the air. But I will put it in the book."

Thanks... That's what I was thinking but not willing to do the research myself. Off to find that response by colorado tanker...

FR is getting sloppy... It only took us 2000 posts to confirm it.

Yes, I heard him say that too. My guess was that someone from the Whitehouse contacted him, and educated him a little. Rush did, as I recall, state that the Whitehouse said it was the beaurcracy that released the report, and that those folks over at the EPA live in their own world, or something like that.

My impression is that Rush was much more sensible and balanced on this topic today than yesterday. Today he recognized that

  1. the science in the report was bad, as explained by someone he named and whose opinion he respected,
  2. the N Y Times had misrepresented the report as stating its conclusions more strongly than the report had actually done,
  3. the Whitehouse and the EPA are two different beasts on this, and
  4. the problem wasn't that Bush had done a 180 from his previous stance putting down Kyoto and the envronmental wackos to supporting them (which is what it sounded like yesterday Rush was thinking) but that Bush had underestimated the political leverage that the leftist environmentalists would make out of this report.

Whoever did the "education" of Rush from the Whitehouse did a nice job. And the AP report that Bush has "dismissed the report", and distancing Bush from the beauracracy, showed nice quick reflexes on the part of the Whitehouse.

I'm feeling better today, about both Bush and Rush.

Yeah -- he should have. But both he and the Whitehouse seem to be doing a pretty good job of mid-course corrections on this topic.
