Scientists ponder why kangaroos fart less than sheep

Scientists ponder why kangaroos fart less than sheep Australian scientists are trying to work out why kangaroos don't fart as often as sheep and cattle. Queensland Government scientists are investigating microbes in kangaroos' stomachs.

The Department of Primary Industries researchers want to isolate the bacteria in kangaroos that prevents the production of methane.

ABC News Online says they then plan to see if it can be used to reduce gas emissions from cattle and sheep.

If successful, the move could reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from livestock.

Department of Primary Industries Minister Henry Palaszczuk said: "If we can have a breakthrough there, it'll be great news for the environment because at the end of the day it will mean a reduction in the 60 million tonnes of gas emissions that come from our cows and our sheep each year."

Cavador, please tell me, what does your flag-and-slogan image mean? That monarchists don't know how many stars are on our flag? Thanks in advance, By.

Can we say "fart"...

I think it stands for "First Amendment Radio Trust [Society]", or something like that. One of the
crazies {Timtron] on shortwave station WBCQ closes a show along those lines.

Not too mention it saves wear and tear on the other end.

And you know this because...?

I used to live in a town that had a landfill. They had 3 "flares" going continuously to burn off the methane.

And yes, the waste company looked in to powering diesel generators, and it was not economically feasible.
The gas contained too few BTUs. I think a cubic foot of NG sold in the US has to contain a minimum of around 550-600 BTUs per foot3

"...why kangaroos fart less than sheep..."

Common sense tells me that the vertical walking pressure on gas keeps the pressure from building in the kangaroo; while the horizontal walking pressure in the sheep allows for greater buildup. Weird science--got to use the 'old bean'.

Exactly!

I use Webferret for a search engine and I was looking for an image of our flag and used the first image I found.
The bit about monarchists was included in the image, and I thought it sounded amusing;because the posting had the words:SHEEP and FART.

Pueblo-based Under-Tec Corp. offers help with Under-Ease – “protective underwear for flatulence.”

Underoos is already taken.
kangaroos/roos
Roobars/boing bars (like in bullbars)

Why do you call Roobars "boing bars?
'Cause the bars go "Boing" when you hit 'em, Mate.

,,, at the risk of sounding aloof Brian, everyone's missed the point of this thread. Kangaroos and sheep haven't changed much over the years. They eat, they fart, they move around, they sleep. End of story.

What this scientific foray proves conclusively is that bureaucrats are the most dangerous people on the planet. Who else could degrade scientists, waste public money and have the gaul to publish such results as a "breakthrough"?

G'Day, shaggs

I don't know that any of us missed the point at all.

We got it well enough -- and took the opportunity, by way of being ridiculous, to highlight the assininity of the public-trough-walloping and otherwise deservedly-unemployed government-dole-bludger "research" wallahs.

Best ones FRom Brian
