House Intelligence Committee member Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., alleged Sunday that the August 6 terrorist alert received by President Bush contained a key detail that was omitted from a similar briefings given to Congress.
"What we saw in Congress in that same 24-hour period did not have the reporting that referenced hijacking," she told NBC's "Meet the Press." "That was a distinction between what Congress saw and what the White House saw."
Though Pelosi said that she didn't think the Aug. 6 briefing was enough to "warrant action on the part of the president," she went on to hint that Bush overlooked key evidence that might have predicted the 9-11 attacks.
"I think the distinction has to be made that for some reason, on that early day in August, someone in the intelligence community decided to put all of those events on one piece of paper," Pelosi observed.
The California Democrat stressed that while congressional intelligence committees had received much of the same information that was in Bush's pre-Sept. 11 briefing, "We had seen it over a period of time. We did not see it in the aggregate as the president did that day."
While some Democrats have backed away from earlier suggestions that Bush knew enough to prevent the Sept. 11 attacks, Pelosi joins a cadre of liberals who continue to insinuate otherwise.
On Wednesday, Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., said that historians will judge Bush accountable for the 9-11 attacks because they happened on his watch. (See: Dodd: 9-11 Attacks Happened on Bush's Watch)
Well, golly, Chris.... then who will be accountable for the '93 WTC bombing, the various embassy bombings, the USS Cole, etc........and WHY were you so seemingly unconcerned about accountability then, you sniveling hypocrite??
So, Chris, should we hold you accountable for making a Waitress sandwich because it occurred on your slice?
Oh good, another Democrat who wants to keep terrorism and hijacking on the front page. I hope they keep this up right through November. Scare the people good, honey. The more you scare 'em, the more Republicans they'll vote for. You may think you're slammin' Bush, but nobody hears that. All they hear is 'terrorism' and all they want is somebody who will bomb the Hell out of 'em if they try it. They already have that guy, and you're dissin' him. Keep it up, babe. |
No not on that day, no not 'someone in the intelligence community', it was the result of weeks of work requested by the President himself. If you did some research you would be able to observe better. And was it not also a muli-page report and not the condecending 'one sheet of paper' talking point like it was a crib note that your fascist party keeps spouting.
Carl - Thanks for pointing this out today, my yelling at the TV while making breakfast didn't reach much beyond my nextdoor neighbor. ;-)
Gimme a break!
It won't fly and all this does is make the Democrats, like Nancy Pelosi, look bad, attempting to milk the real human tragedy of 9/11 as a political act that they can use to bash Bush. Bad idea.
Most reasonable people are sick of the constant Bush-bashing and will vote Republican in November as a vote of confidence for President Bush. Watch.

There was a time when "jumbo shrimp" was the ultimate example of oxymoron. Aah, for the good old days!
