[history]
WASHINGTON -- Occasional grumbling by some prominent conservatives about President Bush sometimes overshadows his extremely solid support among stalwart Republicans and conservatives around the country.
Many Republicans and Democrats seem to agree that support by itself does not tilt the 2002 elections toward the GOP. Some, however, say it could offset the gains the party out of the White House -- Democrats, in this case -- historically has made in midterm elections.

LOL No, don't tell him that! I am wanting to hear the "if he won't play my way, I am going to take my ball and go home" rebuttal!

This thread locked for maintenance. It will unlock as soon as we're through cleaning up the current mess. We're not going to pull this thread again, but I will not hesitate to suspend those who have been warned at least twice today to knock off the personal attacks. Starting now.

He was referring to Republicans. That is Bush's party. Bush is not a real republican, and even if he were it's not HIS party.

Bush's job approval rating among Republicans is in the low 90s and a bit higher among strong Republicans, according to an Ipsos-Reid poll and others.
I'm looking for some of the opposition ot post data and links to refute the above statement... Not just their opinion but supportive data .

Very good idea -- ignore them and hit abuse! They have an agenda and one thing was to make sure this article did not stay up!

"another Gore voter..."
In light of Bush's soft stance on immigration, making bigger our already big government, failure to balance the budget, his ties to the criminals at Enron, he may as well have voted for Gore. Though Bush and Gore differ in retoric, they seem to be brothers in terms of deeds done.
I don't care about Bush's talk; he needs to show some results.

If Gore were president, you wouldn't have a tax cut, Kyoto would have been signed (wrecking the economy), we would have signed on to the World Court fiasco, Russia would be at our throat instead of an ally (Putin had contempt for Gore), the military would be in shambles, there would be no missile defense, we would be funding abortions in the UN, and there would be no energy plan (and we will have a bill if Daschle will get off his rear and pass it). You would have had more liberal judges appointed, no Donald Rumsfeld at the Pentagon, and women would still be in combat roles.
Now I realize that for you this pales compared to the evil farm bill and the education bill, not to mention CFR, but there you have it. On balance, I think what has been accomplished outweighs the few things we gave in on.

You are not going to find any data! Wonder how many of the anti-Bush crowd are part of the 17% Conservative that you and I found voted for Gore in 2000!

The more I see, the more I am convinced that the Bush haters on the right and the left share the same genetic codes

If I was polled, I'd give the President an overall positive approval rating.
Does that guarantee I'll vote for him again?
Not yet.

Believe me I understand your sentiment, and am very close to bailing on the Republicans... I am not even considering bailing on republicans. I have republican all my life and support their "official" stand on the issues.
However, republicans who are only using the 'R' in front of their name to get votes, and then pass the democrat agenda should be exposed. Just about every conservative republican I talk to who is not real active in politics, either knows very little or nothing about Bush's attempts to pass the amnesty extension section 245i. When they find out about it, they feel very betrayed. Bush doesn't have the support many on this forum thinks he has.

Bush has done so much for the Democrat agenda.
And that agenda would be....(please fill in the blanks here).... CFR, Farm Bill, Public school funding, immigration, he's talking prescription drugs and more health care funding, millions more in foriegn aid,
...spend and grow Bush, to say the least! And it's only been 2 years ! Multiply that by 2 more! God help us if it turns to 8!
To: PhiKapMom
There is an agenda, absolutely! To expose GW Bush for the liberal he really is. If he was conservative, he'd be ok with me. The (R) behind his name can't hide is bigger government, bigger debt, weak kneed immigration stance and constitution trashing. People used to call a spade a spade around here when it was Clinton in charge.
Listen to yourselves. Two years ago all the polls were phony and slanted by the liberal media, now they are straight right?
