Ron Cricketburger (sp), official with the Libertarian Party, was a guest on Atlanta radio station WGST this morning, interviewed by Tom Hughes.Crackenbooger (sp) described how the LP was out to teach pro-WOD Congresspeople "a lesson" -- evidently by working toward their defeat in the upcoming election (and, he claimed the LP has the ability to do it, and claiming to have accomplished similar things in the past in Georgia).
And who tops the list of targeted politicians, according to Crookedpicker (sp)? Bob Barr.
That's right Bob Barr. The Libertarian Party is out to defeat Bob Barr, to "teach him a lesson" and get a DEMOCRAT elected. All for a SINGLE ISSUE. Nevermind that on every other issue Barr is probably the most anti-big-government congressman there is, and therefore the most "libertarian." No, according to Crackenfracken (sp), Barr has to go, because he has sponsored or introduced onerous anti-drug legislation.
So the gloves are off now. It's apparently all about one thing. They don't care if it's a rat or a pub, they don't care if it's a socialist or a full blown commie -- it's about one thing to the LP. Freedom to load the bong with primo ganja and smoke until they're plowed.
Don't bother pretending the Libertarian Party has high ideals and concerns for freedom and reduction of government interference in all areas of life. Spare me the empty rhetoric. I used to buy it all. I used to believe Neal Boortz's "sermons" on the virtues of Libertarianism. But now I see. It's all bull. It's all smokescreen. It's all cover. All they want is to be able to hang out on the corner toking blunts and munching Doritos without fear of arrest, jail, or fine. And they'll sacrifice Barr (and evidently other freedoms for most all Americans) just to get it.
I'm against the War on Drugs too (it has been used as excuse for wholesale assault on American freedoms, paramilitary police squads, no knock raids, property seizure), but not to the point of throwing out someone like Barr and replacing him with a RAT. In other words, I do not see the sense of drug freedom at the cost of all other freedoms.
That may be an acceptable trade for the LP, but I don't I buy it.
ON THE OTHER HAND, there IS something to think about when it comes to the excesses of the WOD. But is the War on Drugs that dangerous to Americans? Is the War on Drugs such a "gateway to tyranny" that someone like Bob Barr must be replaced with even a Democrat to repeal it? Or is that fear overblown, -- exagerrated simply to give the pot heads and excuse to attack laws that prevent them from firing off a fattie?
To be fair, the LP is also targeting Max Cleland. Cleland once introduced a bill that in essence would allow police to simply take your money without due process, warrant or anything if you are caught with over $10,000 in cash. That's the kind of thing the WOD has opened the door to -- well, simple bullying.
But throwing out Bob Barr and empowering Democrats will surely result in increased risk to other freedoms, increased chance of more income redistribution and all that, don't you think? So I ask you, is the WOD that dangerous? Is it worth it?
That is what the American Voters are saying about the LP. The LP is strictly a fringe group.
