WHY '04 LOOKS TOUGH FOR LIBERAL DEMS
New York Post ^ | May 29, 2002 | Dick Morris

Edited on 05/26/2004 5:06:37 PM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

IT'S still far too early to know how the 2004 field for the Democratic nomination is shaping up, but the lessons of the 2000 primary season would seem to tilt the field to a moderate, like Joe Lieberman or John Edwards, and away from Albert Gore Jr.

There will be a GOP primary in 2004. Alan Keyes will challenge Bush. He won't win even one state, but he will run right up to the convention; because that is what a keyster does.

Morris didn't mention my favorite (for entertainment value) Demmycrat candidate in 2004---Al Sharpton. It's gonna be a lot of fun watching Rev. Al make the other candidates sweat during their debates. I can already imagine Sharpton causing the empty suit of the North Carolina shyster to be drenched in sweat.

The best way to approach the 2004 Demmycrat Presidential campaign is as entertainment with liberal doses of great comedy. So sit back, pull out the popcorn bowl, chug down a few brewskis, and ENJOY the show. I am sure going to look forward to it. Hee! Hee!

Why wouldn't Independents vote for Bush to show their support? Why the assumption that one, they'll actually come out and vote and two, they'll vote in the 'RAT primaries? Check your premises (at the door).

The beneficiaries will be centrists like Connecticut's Joe Lieberman and North Carolina's John Edwards.

The Toe Sucker said this twice. I'm a bit puzzled how news persons decide which Democrats are "centrist" or "moderate," since these days they are all pro-abort, pro-socialist, and pro all the rest of the sorry liberal mess. Did Morris think that clinton was a "moderate"? Probably.

I wonder if this column indicates that Morris has given up trying to get a job with the Republicans, which he has been angling for in virtually every column for the past two or three years, and is hoping to be hired on by one of these "moderate" Democrats?

You are right. This is not necessarily good news for Bush. A liberal in moderate clothing like Ambulance Chaser Edwards is much harder to beat than an honest liberal like Chris Dodd. Every Republican leaning independent should vote for Al Sharpton. If he can get even 12-15% of the vote and be encouraged to stay in the race as long as possible, the eventual DemocRAT nominee would have the unenviable choice of giving him second spot on the ticket or risk offending their base by not giving him second spot on the ticket. Either way is A.O.K. for Dubya.

The order of succession for president in this poor, benighted nation might well be Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton. And don't count Jeb or Chelsea out!

Or George P. Bush. 8>)

There's a certain percentage of people that ALWAYS vote because they consider it their civic duty. In 2004, the independents in this group will grab RAT ballots because any potential challenger to Bush on the GOP side will be irrelevant, and they'll want their vote to count for something.

I don't know why indies are ever allowed to vote in party primaries anyway. It should be illegal in all 50 states.
