Women may be responsible for the intelligence of the human race because they consistently pick brain over brawn when choosing a mate.Yeah, OK! Whatever! If that was the case...
1.)How do you explain every episode of Jerry Springer, Jenny Jones, Ricki Lake, Montel, Maury, Yo-landa, Ro-landa, Jo-landa, Ho-landa, etc?
2.) Women everywhere would be fighting for a piece of me, which, in real life, they certainly aren't!
To: VinnyTex
My experience in life directly contradicts the notion that women prefer smarts over all else. Money, looks, and social status in reality have the higher priority with most women.

You said this much better than I was going to. I'll add that what most women look for is what will give them security or status. That may be financial, emotional, physical or some other type of security but it's what they're after more than someone who is "smart".
To: Tall_Texan
Actually, you are right. Security is the real priority, it just manifests itself in different ways with different women, from smarts to a big bank account to a big personal endowment of a different kind entirely.

They don't chase you, because you aren't anywhere near as intelligent, as you imagine you are.

The title of this post is incorrect.
It should be:
"Smart Women Pass Over Dumb Men Unless They Are Rich Dumb Men"
To: Tall_Texan
All women look for security,(money)!
The greedy, self-centered should be lined up, and sprayed with a flame thrower!
sarcasm/off/not
To: Tall_Texan
Men and women regard social status differently. All of the men I know who seek it do so because their women want it.

The article has it right: You draw your own conclusions. ;-)

Now, now boys, you don't really " get it " at all. The ability to make money ( lots of it ) , usually means that a man is intelleigent. Status and wealth usually go hand in glove ; ergo , more intelligence is needed. Looks help; however , men go for " looks ", much more often than women do.
Some girls go for the " bad boy ", just as some men will go for sluts. This doesn't mean that either case will make for a happy, long lasting marriage. Neither usually does.
What you must realize, is that you may think that you are " intelligent "; but you may not be.OTOH, you mught be somewhat intelligent, and totally lack any social graces. Outside of Bill Gates, or any other nerd with billions , no woman is usually going to be interested in just an antisocial, inept , but intelligent nerd.

Lots of women like dumb guys. Women enjoy fooling guys and they can fool dumb guys.
Dumb, rich and handsome. Very few women can turn that combo down.

Every woman is entitled to one dumbass badboy. If she's lucky, she didn't make it legal. A lot of second marriages are the result of looking for a smart guy.

Looks help; however , men go for " looks ", much more often than women do. Most guys overlook the importance of this. You can be an ugly bastard of a guy and still end up with very desirable women. There are examples of this all over the place. But if you are an ugly bastard of woman, you are pretty much hosed.
Why this is important to guys is that if you aren't a GQ model, you can still legitimately attract gorgeous and otherwise desirable women by developing your other assets that women find compelling in a man. If you are average looking but self-confident and have your act together, you should have no problem getting high quality women in numbers. One of the biggest problems guys have is that they kind of assume that girls view guys in a way that is analogous to how guys view girls, when this isn't really the case and is almost certainly detrimental to men doing what they need to do to attract the mate they want. The world CAN be your oyster, but you have to learn the rules of the game. :-)

"If ya wanna be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife. So from my personal point of view get an ugly girl to marry you". I can't remember who sang it.
To: tortoise
Well stated, tortoise. I was first attracted to my husband because of his self confidence and his sense of humor second. It revealed his intelligence. We've been married 34 years.
