The HBO World Trade Center Special

Posted on 05/26/2002 7:01:52 PM PDT by ml/nj

I'm watching.

I didn't know if I would watch. I thought the NY Times article today about the phone calls from those who were trapped was tasteless. I didn't read it.

I'm angry again. Not that I've stopped being angry, but I'm angry again. At this point I have two new (for me) thoughts.

The first is that President Bush (so far missing from the show) blew it big time. We were all united on that day, and he has let the political midgets separate us again; and we've really done nothing to avenge the massacre, and little to prevent the next one.

My second thought is that I've seen and heard a lot of nameless Americans so far. Black, White, Hispanic, Asian - I've seen no Arabs. None. These are mostly random pictures taken during the chaos. I've seen lots of Orthodox Jews. Surely there are more Arabs living in NYC than Orthodox Jews? No Arabs.

“The experience on interrogations has been miserable, a disaster from the very beginning,” said a congressional intelligence source.

Now, Class, what can we assume from this statement, taken from the link provided to me to "source" how miserable our military is doing.

What's the missing word in that sentence? Is it DEMOCRATIC, as in "a Democratic congressiional intelligence source?"

Well, of course it is!

In case you missed it, HERE is what the Democrats and the people who HATE everything about this country are doing to HELP us in this situation.

While I was watching that footage from the NYPD helicopter and you heard the comments from the pilots, I thought is there any doubt that after the first collapse they would have rescued people from the roof if they had seen anyone up there?

I think that ml/nj is watching to [sic]much the Clymer News Network

Think what you want. My CNN watching is under 15 minutes a week.

I don't know: Is CNN calling for the expulsion at least of Arabs non-citizens, and the destruction of Medina?

Even New Yorkers as liberal as they are - are happy that Bush is and was our president. We needed him and he came thru for us. The Democrats in Washington know that and they hate him even more for it. Guiliani was the mayor of all the U.S. on that day. I am proud to have voted for him twice when I lived in Queens. And I am proud to have voted for BUSH. I will vote again for him in 2004.

I've taped it to watch when I'll be able to sit through it without breaking down.

He flew the Stainmaker halfway around the World so that lowlife could get to Manhatten before the President.

SOP. The country was attacked and getting Slick out of harm's way was a loathsome but reasonable precaution. Having the former imPOTUS taken hostage or worse would have made the US look weak and ineffective to our enemies. (Even if some of us might have cracked open a bottle of champagne to celebrate the ironic justice of the situation.) It's the same reason why the US couldn't allow Bubba to face war crimes charges in the Hague...he may or may not deserve it, but as a matter of US prestige and sovereignity, we cannot allow a third party to do what we should do ourselves.

Besides, it was more important to retrieve the secret service personnel assigned to him, and to do that we had to bring Slick Willy home. Wouldn't want to unduly risk some good men and women by leaving them in a position where they would have to take a bullet for that jerk, would we?

"What did Bush do?"

Well, since you think you're such an expert on waging war and retaliation, what would your plan of action be? Imagine yourself President on 9/11...what's your next step?

Agreed. It's worthless to link to a British tabloid rag quoting anonymous sources (in other words, they pulled that story out of their ass). For your info, ml/nj, that's the same British rag that claimed that we've been doing all kinds of horrible human rights abuses in Gitmo and Afghanistan while totally blowing off what the Islamic governments are doing to their own people.

ml/nj: Did you know that in most mid-east countries converting to a religion other than Islam is a capital offense? Why aren't you and your liberal buddies bitching about that? Did you know that those countries have secret religious police that rove the cities administering beatings for the tiniest violations in Islamic law? Hmm, nothing to say about that either. Amazing, just amazing...

Yep. You make a good point, especially considering the decaying military that Bush inherited.

They thought they could but in reality when they got up close the wind up there coupled with the intense heat from the fire. (you gotta remember the heat was from jet fuel). The temperature was over 2,000 degrees. Could you see them landing a helicopter in that mess without it exploding or they killing themselves?

your liberal buddies

That's me all right: A good old fashioned liberal! That's why I said Bush should have crushed his opposition. Whom do you think I meant? Certainly not Dick Armey or Newt Gingrich, though if you hear either spreak I think you will detect that they are not entirely pleased with what our course has been either.

"I always thought Rudy would be a fabulous president. Too bad some FReepers have no vision beyond their pure partisan ideology. They would be unsupportive of him because he is not a far right pro life candidate. The man is a great leader."

I am about as pro-life as you can get, but after watching that documentary tonight I couldn't help but wonder again about God's hand in all of this. New York couldn't have asked for a finer mayor on that "great and terrible day."

I don't know if he would make a good president, but I do believe 9/11/01 was the reason Rudy Giuliani was born.

If we get the kind of leaders we deserve, then New York is (was) truly one heck of a great city.

It's funny to me that all the leaders in charge of the areas that were affected that day (in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania) were Republicans. I'm not sure if God is trying to tell us something or not. I'm just glad we had them.
