There are plenty of good people in the FBI who are my heros. There are some very bad political appointees at the top who need, shall we say, to "grow into the private sector."

The fact that the corrupt appointees are at the top makes the
'goodness' of the operatives a moot point.  Freedom of the
press was carved out to allow for unbridled criticism and
examination of what government does.  The complete
failure of investigative journalism to uncover and persist
in its role as watchdog is one of the greatest unremarked
disasters of our time.

The altering of official documents must be considered serious nonetheless. If it is true that officials altered the documents the agent submitted in support of a search warrant then they should be prosecuted and jailed in found guilty. It is one thing if documents disappear which cause the President embarrassment, it is another if documents are altered and thousands die as a result.

When the bureau released Parker's notebook to Congress, 27 pages had mysteriously gone missing.

key crime scene photos in the Vincent Foster death case turned over by the Park Police to the FBI simply vanished

Is there a reason that people do not make copies of papers and photos? It is certainly simple enough to do.

There are plenty of good people in the FBI who are my heros. There are some very bad political appointees at the top whoneed, shall we say, to "grow into the private sector."

Some of the things they have done over a 10 year period are most heinous. Starting with Ruby Ridge, they set him up and then killed his wife and got off scott free. Tanked and burned a church, looked the other way and possibly destroyed evidence in the OKC bombing, handed over 900+ confidential FBI files to the Clintons, didn't insist on back ground checks for hew hirees of the Clintons, messed up the investigation of the spying and thefts taking place at our nuclear labs, let some innocent guy rot in jail for almost 20 years to protect one of their snitches, completely and totally missed the terriost attacks etc, etc, etc.

Then when there is finally a whistle blower, congress has to protect them from their own. Want to refute these charges or add to them, anyone?? It sure looks like a criminal enterprise to me!!

As I recall, they had 23,000 special agents all working to convict Richard Jewell of the Olympic bombing in Atlanta. They might have done it, too, if they had another 16,000 agents and 12 years, even though he wasn't the least bit guilty. They all got promoted. All got a year end bonus and all got a little placque. Think back. Name one project in the last 15 years where you can say, "Damn, I proud we've got the FBI out there." Don't think you can. The closest you can come involves a situation where an FBI agent just stumbled on something or someone else did most of the work and the FBI stole the credit. Go ahead, name one.

Looks as though some are really trying to live up to the name "The Feebs".

"In one particularly egregious example, key crime scene photos in the Vincent Foster death case"

Losing the photos was not all the tampering that was done. The other document tampering occurred when Patrick Knowlton was interviewed. The FBI purposely altered Patrick's testimony to indicate the Foster car had been at the park, when Patrick has always maintained that Foster's car was not there. The tampering of Patrick's testimony was why he filed his lawsuit against them.

Since Patrick has been tested in the 90th percentile for memory retention, I think I'd sooner believe Patrick's recollection of events.

I do agree that some of the higher-ups in the FBI need to go. They are setting a bad example for the newer officers; most of whom are only there to do a good job.
