I hope you told your barber "Thank you" for serving and about the FR Canteen. There are so many veterans out there who need to know that their service is appreciated by people who love our country and love our military! Far too often it's the anti-Americans and flag-burners that get all the media coverage. I applaud your devotion to our country's flag, SIS.

Since it seems everyone has a signature at the Canteen, I humbly submit the above for FallGuy.

Streamwood is getting ready for it's 3-day Memorial Day Observerance. It's a little overcast & chilly today (about 50 degrees).

Here is a picture taken just before the posting of the first Honor Guard for this week-end.

On the left is Streamwood's Memorial Commission Chairman, Joe Marino, in the center is AO3 Steven Lukasiewicz, & on the right is SSgt Walter A. Wrobel.

Tomorrow, during the main ceremonies at 11 AM, we will have a fly-over by a WWII B-25 bomber, & an Army Blackhawk helicopter.

May God bless all our Veterans & men and women serving today! May God watch over the men and women serving today and keep them safe!

I wish we were there too Sam. We would go with you, it would meam so much to me to do that, so very much. I know we can't this year, but we sure will next year and all the rest.
When you go, we will be there in our hearts,and Roger will be there too, he will be standing next to another vet named Johnny Bartlett.
I met Johnny in Nam my first time I was there, he took me around in the Huey.He served two tours,made me laugh when we were shot down when he saw I had become very quiet,wiped my tears as we left some of the firebases , handed me a rag to wipe the blood from my clothes when I hugged the wounded,so many things.
Then came home to find another America, but held his head high knowing he did what he had to do, he answered the call for a country he so dearly loved.......America
He went back for his second tour and never made it home again.
For Roger and Johnny and all that have served.They will live in our hearts into forever.

Hi folks;

We are conducting a Memorial Day Weekend Email-a-Thon as an effort to send over 10,000 emails to the members of our military over this weekend.  This effort is being supported by VetsCor (A Navy Vet) and the Canteen thread's own Snow Bunny.

Please drop by to help boost the total emails over the goal.

Link to Email-a-Thon thread.

Thank you.
