They said it might be barbecue. Maybe propane gas for barbecues.

If anybody has medical oxygen in the house, that could make for a nasty explosion if the place caught on fire.
To: CELTICGAEL (Celt)
She also said it was like an acid smell

Encino has a large Jewish population, fyi.
To: You are here
No but alot of seniors have oxegen tanks in their homes. That could cause further explosions.

Oh well MSNBC stopped and so did Fox for now.Per MSNBC, the feds say there is no evidence that this is a terrorist act, but the FBI is enroute to the scene.

the TV people sure seem to think something is up - judging by tone, etc...

I hope it is not. Its a horrible site anyway. I hope there are no fatalities.

Yep, I'll bet those medical oxygen tanks could make a pretty nasty kaboom.

TV People are panic buttons anyway. They should wait until they know for sure.

Acids-drug labs.

Fox caller reported a "sulphury smell". Gunpowder?Cemtex has a cordite or gunpowder type smell. Very easily verified.
Debris field looks too big for low velocity gas explosion.
To: RAT Patrol
And that specific area is predominately elderly folks. And this is looking more like an accident of some type.

If this was a terrorist act, I would've expected it to happen in the middle of the night. It doesn't make a lot of sense to cause an explosion at 11AM on a weekday, when few people are around.

They said it might be barbecue. Maybe propane gas for barbecues. Is it me, or is barbecueing at this time of day a little odd? Well, I guess someone in CA could be BBQing their lunch.

"Per MSNBC, the feds say there is no evidence that this is a terrorist act, but the FBI is enroute to the scene.Typical double speak. Amazing how they know without even examining it, that its not terrorist related.

They said it might be a barbecue or the tanks of oxegen that exploded. Now we're getting somewhere! Propane is very dangerous stuff. Overfilled tanks can vent gas if subjected to heat and the gas is heavier than air. It collects and creates a teriffic explosion when it goes. But oxygen is scarier still. It feeds the flames and makes them burn with terrible intensity. It's not unimaginable that some people in an apartment complex might have oxygen tanks for medical purposes.
Accident or terrorism? I'm one of those wishy-washy people who prefers to base my opinions on facts. There are some cases like Flight 800 where I'm still very much an agnostic. We'll probably know soon enough what caused this one though.

the TV people sure seem to think something is up - judging by tone, etc...If its not terrorism then there is one terrorist who warned about apartments blowing up that I would like to have pick me some lotto numbers.

They are saying natural gas seeping right now which they think could have caused it or sewer system.
