Whenever I see this post I tell myself, "Look away, Look away from a lame ass argument." Oh, I wish something were original inside this argument. We paid for our sins from our past that Jefferson even said we would have to pay for if there is a Just God. I believe that there is a Just God and I believe that Jefferson (a slave owner) is a better man than any alive today. Therefore, without having to argue about what a mistake Pickets charge was, and how Lee was to bullheaded to listen to General Longstreet, I'll just say that Jefferson was right: God is a Just God to all races.

If the battle for Little Round Top had been fought better, history would have had an entirely different outcome.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I believe the South lost because it got away from its philosophy of fighting a defensive war against the North.
General Lee, when he was appointed the Commander in Chief of the Confederate Army, realized what he was up against, and knew that the best course of action was to fight the war in the South, and to not go on the offensive immediately.
This actually was met with success at the war's onset, and had they continued with this plan of action, should have won.

Yes, the south could have won if many things had been different.

Who says the South did not win? After all, which portions of the nation is suffering from economic disintegration? Which part of the nation has a mass exodus of workers? Which part of the nation is termed the "rust belt"?
Whose values do we here at FR now support?

Could the South have won?
[Born a Texan; butting in where I probably oughtn't; and being cheekier than I should be at the end of a teaching week- - - ]
Does anyone north of lower-hoootn-hollllar really care?
A few of us are trying to become at least slightly addicted to LIVING IN THE PRESENT.

We did. Just look at the filthy, squalid, degenerate urban shitholes the "winners" hail from. Now they are pouring down South to make our beautiful homeland a mirror image of their stinking, crime ridden sewer.

The South shot themselves in the foot. That is, they shot and killed their own Stonewall Jackson. If Jackson had lived, the South would have own.
IMHO

The only way the south could have won is if it did it early in the war before the north had time to ramp up its industry and before the blockade took effect. It also could have won if Britain or France had come in on the side of the south. The U.S navy was still no match for the Royal navy at that time.

Could the South Have Won? If they had only had more "Jagerminz S'More Flavored Schnapps".

The South is winning as Mexico invades us right now!
