Re your post #18 - You know, I have to say, it is remarkable how Gov. Bush, who is so available and willing to help people, has been so demonized in the past by the Dem Party. I voted a straight Dem ticket almost my entire life, and I can not recall any Dem leader, ever, who would bother to give me the time of day, let alone help me with some problem or issue. It is just mind-blowing to me the difference between Gov. Bush, who tries so hard to be there for the people, and these Dem leaders, who could not care less about their own constituents - as long as they vote Dem. Seriously. That has been my personal experience. If it was otherwise, I would say so.

I agree with you. I think it's a sweet thing to do to give a young person the time of day and actually give good answers to questions. He seems like a very nice man. With a mother like Barbara, how could he not be?

Thanks so much for your terrific post #17! No, I did not see him campaign back in 1980. But, it seems he has come a long way since then! (And, BTW, that is something I could never understand about Al Gore -- how could Gore be in the public eye for what, 25 years -- and still not be able to give a decent speech for most of Campaign 2000????) Julie, Thanks so much for your post #26, and for taking the time to read this young lady's interview with our gov. I myself have learned so much by working on this series about Gov. Bush. And, how an intelligent voter in this state could NOT vote for him this year is really beyond me at this point. I think he's gonna win it in a landslide... :)!

Dakotabound, I read that post, and I have no idea of course what he will do about that bill, but I think the info in the link you posted omits the most important fact -- nothing is required of a family. Everything is optional, and those services only kick in IF a mother or family REQUESTS such. I honestly don't know if it is the thread the homeschoolers seem to perceive it to be. My belief is that it is intended to provide services ONLY TO THOSE WHO WANT THE SERVICES. A family has to REQUEST the services -- it is not government intrusion if the government makes an optional service available, and that service is ONLY available by request. Am I wrong about this?? :)

Thanks for your post. Very encouraging to see such a bright, mature young person's writing. Can't wait until we have a lot of home-schooled young people as professional journalists. I'd love to see them turn journalism around - asking tough questions about the Constitutionality of actions, connecting the dots between tax and spend programs and the concomitant social declines.
