George Lucas, sometimes accused of reinforcing racial stereotypes with his movies, has done it again according to critics.

Latino critics in particular charge his latest Star Wars epic toys with American paranoia about Mexican immigration with its cloned army of swarthy lookalikes who march lockstep by the tens of thousands, and ultimately end up serving as Darth Vaders white suited warriors.

They ought to change his name to osterizer for the next movie.

Very good.

They were obviously Sioux.

"Decoder Sioux" is a pun? On Dakota? This is a joke? I'm feeling dense tonight.

If it sounded like an English word, would it be considered offensive? French? Chinese? Russian? Turkish? Burmese? Bantu?

Actually, Naboo is a Burmese word, and mildly off-color as well. It means "obsessed with women's buttocks"

Jango looks exactly like an Egyptian friend of mine - maybe they should complain!

Yep, the Republic is dead. Learn to love Empire!

It's a movie for God's sake. Learn some sense of the time and place for things. But then again, I recall you Patsies were saying on September 11th, "Does this mean we get our country back?"

Ergo, you lot have no sense of proportion, time, place or propriety whatsoever.

A new oppressed minority then, "People who resemble Jango". ;)

Stunning observation. Too bad the neo-cons feel that the movie represents something political, that is good empire, bad rebels.

I recall you Patsies were saying on September 11th, "Does this mean we get our country back?"

Now you just look foolish for I never said that and cannot fathom who the patsies are your so sure I represent.

Ergo, you lot have no sense of proportion, time, place or propriety whatsoever.

I little bit over the top ah. Lighten up on the caffenine. It's only a movie....

Temura Morrison, the actor who plays Jango, is a New Zealander of Maori descent.

I knew from looking at him that the man wasn't Hispanic, even before I knew he was Maori! Some folks just can't stand not having SOMETHING about which to complain!!!

Yoda's scene at the end is worth $14.00 for tickets and popcorn.

LOL, isn't THAT the truth! My 12 yr. old son is STILL talking about THAT one!

Stunning observation. Too bad the neo-cons feel that the movie represents something political, that is good empire, bad rebels.

Did you miss the part where the Rebels were led by royalists (to say nothing of the Senate being corrupt), people you Patsies don't generally like either - that article can no way be read as a statement of political principle, except in so far as it is a defence of meritocracy and its opposition to Somalia-esque anarchy. You were just looking for a fight, any excuse to spew venom at the old Patsie bugabear, "the neo-cons".

And you're telling me to cut down on the caffiene? The world does not revolve around your pitiful struggle with the "neo-cons", not even the world of Star Wars.

Yea, I'm just full of venom. (hiss, hiss) Silly brit.
Besides, I wouldn't dare oppose the fine 'weekly standard' article. No, no...surely they have no agenda with the "I'll take empire" quote. Go McCain!!

Do you recall you posted the article, not I.

I always thought it was both, i.e. they were speaking in Navajo but the messages were also coded to provide extra security. Am I wrong?

I thought they were using the Navajo language itself as the code. That is why the code-talkers always had bodyguards; the Navajos were the only ones who could understand each other! That info wasn't declassified until only a few years ago so that the US could use it again if need be!

The CASE for Empire.

http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/001/248ipzbt.asp

"The deep lesson of Star Wars is that the Empire is good."

Geesh, MadIvan, Can these guys just enjoy a movie or must they always be beating us over the head with neo-con political thought.
