[history]
A 5-year-old Rancho Cordova girl will return to kindergarten at the Capital Christian School after being expelled last week because administrators discovered her mother works as a nude dancer.
Christina Silvas, 24, agreed to stop working at Gold Club Centerfolds off Highway 50 for at least the next three weeks so her daughter can graduate from kindergarten and attend the end-of-the-year pool party she had been looking forward to.

No. But unfortunatly, unless one lives in an Amish type community, children are exposed to this and a lot worse. No, they're not. My children don't live in "Amish country" and they don't know a single stripper, nor do they socialize with children whose parents make a living in the sex trades.
We don't help the child by making excuses for the mother. We help children by wielding that powerful old weapon that used to work in society: shame. This mother should be shamed, publicly, for her immoral decisions and the impact of those decisions on her daughter. The impact on her child is her sole responsibility, not the school's.

From what I observed, Pastor Cole is not like the showdogs you've mentioned. He came across as a humble, sincere person who preferred to handle the problem privately, but the stripper mom took it public. Another commentary on this mom's poor judgement. She wants to "protect" her child and she takes this public -- child in tow? This woman is too dumb to have a cat, let alone a child.

Sorry-- I don't quite follow the sky-diving analogy. I would expect the descent into self-degradation might be more painful than "oh no, not meeeeeeeeeeeee." That's more like a cheap thrill, even though it's still about falling.

This woman is too dumb to have a cat I thought that's why women have cats-- dogs require ssooooooooooooo much more care. LOL She could certainly afford the pet deposit, on her budget.

I had parents like that (do as I say...), who made me go to church with my grandmother. I eventually decided that I was not a believer in Christ and quit attending church. (Southern Baptist emphasize the concept of free will, and good Baptists don't let their kids to get dunked unless they can tell why they're doing it.)
I can honestly say that I wouldn't trade the cultural experiences that helped shape me through early adolescence for anything else I could have done at the time. Still, I have to admit that having parents who are non-believers decreases the chance that children will accept and spread the gospel.
Another thing that gets glossed over here, is what could happen if the stripper mom had drug addicts for friends. Could the child find drugs and bring them to school? What stories could she tell the other students? What psychological pathologies might she be at risk for? How much long-term trouble would the school be in for, e.g., if they had to consider calling child protection services? Lots of questions come to my mind that have not even been posed, much less answered.

When one child's name came up, someone said that she would not be a candidate because "her parents are hard core atheists". I pointed out that such a child is precisely the child that a Christian school may want to go out of it's way to recruit. The school is there for the children. Not the parents. The children. How in the world can you recruit the child of "hard core atheists" for a Christian school?
I don't like "recruiting" children against the will or philosophy of their parents. I don't like it when atheists do it, not when communists do it, not when homosexuals do it, not when Democrats do it, and not when Christians do it.

This is just another stupid O'Reilly populist issue. This is a private school, run by a charismatic Christian church. They have every right to require that the families of the students in their school adhere to their religious beliefs. There is no way in the world that a member of this church could work as a stripper and still hold the same beliefs. My guess is that the woman lives in an area that she deems to be unsafe and that she does believe that her daughter is better off in this school, but not that her daughter should be brought up to believe that dancing is evil.
This woman is fortunate that the church sought to expel her daughter rather than teach her that strip dancing was the work of the devil and would condemn her mother to Hell.

So... no Freep of Gold Club Centerfolds? I'm always up for a road trip. Gimme a minute to find the cooler.

if they had to consider calling child protection services? Don't get me started... CPS would've loved a call. The woman could afford to pay for the foster care, while they held a long, long investigation. CPS needs to be investigated for child abuse.

She could certainly afford the pet deposit, on her budget. Yeah... and we believe *all* of her money was going to daughter's tuition. And I have oceanfront property for sale -- in Nebraska.

What is immoral about stripping? It just so happens that I frequent strip-clubs from time to time, and see nothing wrong with at all.

The cat is a featured part of her act.
