A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 5/15 and 5/16/02

This is a special double-edition daily dose due to FR being down yesterday...
President Bush and his administration were in the defensive today as Democrats and the media swarmed around revelations that the President was given a general warning about possible hijackings before September 11th. It was revealed later in the day that the very same Democrats leading the negative charge, Tom Daschle and Dick Gephardt, also knew of the briefings yet failed to let the media know. By the end of the day, it was the Republicans in Congress leading the charge and taking the Democrats to task for their usual games of partisan slander.
This afternoon, in a move to give the public more knowledge on the exact nature of the briefings, National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice confronted the media with detailed national security intelligence in the months leading up to September 11th. It was made clear that the intelligence briefings given to the President were not specific or detailed enough to prevent the suicide bomber attacks.
In much lighter news, the President began the day at the First Annual National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast. Later he presented the Congressional Gold Medal to President Ronald Reagan and his wife, Nancy.

Seriously, I was scanning the crowd! I was so desperate for him to take office as president it frightened me to think of losing him because some crazy might have decided to make the recount a moot point...Looking back, I was an idiot, but at the time, my fear felt real and at that time it didn't seem he had any special security in place. I felt the same way when he walked part of the way during the inauguration ceremonies...I just prayed for God to protect him...

President Lincoln was sworn in as president in early 1861, and the first shots were fired on Fort Sumter on April 12 of the same year, starting the armies moving in the Civil War. That may be why W referred to Lincoln as "the greatest president," the other day -- he knew what Honest Abe had to deal with. And Lincoln did NOT have the Cabinet that W does.

I agree, the headlines are horrendous. So unjust and horrifying that it is difficult to maintain any semblance of dignity. At least over here in this house-I wanna HURT the idiots that would sent a message out to our nation in this manner. Badly. My husband says a day of my nagging would do it-easily! LOL
But you know-I agree with you down the line, we do think alike. And I just feel ok deep down about it...because in the end, connecting dots is one thing, guessing what might happen in the future is another thing, BUT actually being offered OSAMA BIN PIGPEN on a silver platter, all wrapped up and state delivered via Sudan and having this offer REJECTED by billy klinton and his administration because, as dick morris said, ol billy didn't want to get all messed up in the controversial matter, IS ASTOUNDING.
There is ONE MAN on this EARTH right now, strutting around saying President Bush did not win the election, and collecting Arab chits (probably in the form of cash) by saying AMERICA is to blame for Sept 11 (no billy-YOU ARE TO BLAME).
Pretty ducking amazing, when you consider it....imho.

I loved your story about seeing W during the election fiasco. And yes, he has a very nice face! And how he remains laid back and smiling in that stink of a town called Washington DC is beyond me. I think I'm much more like W's mom. I would not be showing any restraint right about now! lol!

I know you must come away from these rude and tasteless comments of yours thinking you have won some kind of flame war, But flame wars are like winning a medal at the "Special Olympics" It's kinda cool, but you're still a retard I defer to your obvious expertise concerning the "rude and tasteless".

Anyone that saw the tape of President Bush at the time he was told about the WTC would know that this is a man that DIDN'T know of any such tragedy ahead of time.

I suggest you go and retrieve them."

ohio, I mailed two photos to you today.
Wphile, which video started the rounds from your hosue? There are two that I would like to request to be in the list to receive and route: the one of the Bush's pets, and one about Laura.

President Bush and Mrs Reagan reflect what good character gifts its owner. Humility comes from knowing there is a higher power.
There is a huge vacant hole in the place where 'character' resides in many of the democratic leaders. Don't you agree? I expect that is why, during the horrendous klinton years, the equally shallow and greedy press actually tried to make it out that 'character does not matter' (fed this via george stephanopoulis and james carville, etc). Of course the economy matters, but character?-forgeddaboudit!
As the dem leaders pursue this vendetta that stems from their lack of character, I bet a huge portion of the joe six packs out here meet the final straw.
The backfire on this is going to be pretty astounding-imho.
I hope everyone here, before they tuck in tonight,/i>, goes to his or her knees and asks our Father to protect and defend what is right, and to expose HUGELY that which is false and wrongful. I think Miss Marple made a significant post regarding our call to be citizens not spectators, and there is no one on this thread that cannot take the time to support our President thru prayer. He needs us. And God wants us to pray for our leaders. So tonight...when I pray...I am going to specifically pray, with all of my heart, that my words be joined with all of my online friends here who also desire to pray for our President and for truth to reign.
