This is a special double-edition daily dose due to FR being down yesterday...
President Bush and his administration were in the defensive today as Democrats and the media swarmed around revelations that the President was given a general warning about possible hijackings before September 11th. It was revealed later in the day that the very same Democrats leading the negative charge, Tom Daschle and Dick Gephardt, also knew of the briefings yet failed to let the media know. By the end of the day, it was the Republicans in Congress leading the charge and taking the Democrats to task for their usual games of partisan slander.
This afternoon, in a move to give the public more knowledge on the exact nature of the briefings, National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice confronted the media with detailed national security intelligence in the months leading up to September 11th. It was made clear that the intelligence briefings given to the President were not specific or detailed enough to prevent the suicide bomber attacks.
In much lighter news, the President began the day at the First Annual National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast. Later he presented the Congressional Gold Medal to President Ronald Reagan and his wife, Nancy.
Man, you are rating high on the BS meter tonight.
Thanks for the link. Cheney's words were very chilling. We can thank God we have people at the top in the WH who put the nation's interests above those of their party.
May you be the chewy center for a polar bear treat.
Your petty jealousy is obvious to all who read this thread. The President is a MAN.....he is strong, courageous, filled with integrity, as sensitive and as masculine as men get. You can't measure up as a man, so you criticize those of us who admire him. Take your little self someplace else, and let us enjoy looking at a REAL MAN and his gorgeous wife in peace.
We have adults in the White House and the Democrats have come to a gun fight with a knife. This administration has been and will continue to be underestimated. IMHO they could herd cats.
I have been thinking this same thing. Condi Rice put it all in perspective today didn't she, and despite this the media still through jabs at her but she stood firm and I really believe that her coming out today and explaining things helped. The headlines were awful, BUSH KNEW OF 911 ATTACK. This pisses me off because if you read the article it says he was warned but there was nothing substantial etc....So, helloooooo he didn't know of 911 ahead of time. But the average person on the street sees this and believes it. 2 people at my sons baseball practice said exactly that, DID YOU HEAR BUSH KNEW AHEAD OF TIME ABOUT 911???? ggggggggggggrrrrrrrr you have to sit these people down and instead of choking them explain because they are not intelligent enough to read or find out more.
I didn't see the VP's speech, and only know what I read in the link I posted. Glad to hear he showed some sparks of anger and disgust. I am disgusted beyond words.
Could be....but the 9/11 attacks are more in the American psyche than a failed energy company ever would be.
I dunno...ask me in 10 minutes...I've been going back and forth all day on how damaging this all is going to be.
ROTFLMAO.
Grab a dictionary. To incite a response from another party by means of agitation is to 'provoke', not 'invoke'.
I assure you, it was not my intent to exclude, from any discussion, those who linger in a monosyllabic environment.
Methinks ol Dick Cheney threw some red (but oh so tainted meat) to the democrat dogs, er, leaders. Cause you just know that asking those spoiled little nasty power brokers, those anti-American socialist jerks to NOT do something provides a temptation they cannot resist. (As unacquainted with honor and respect and ethical behavior as dems are.) It was like putting candy in front of a little child.
My bet-Ol' Cheney and chums were fairly sure how daschle and geppy would handle the news, and my bet is they were dead on.
Now we discover, low and behold, that full and detailed plans for blowing ol osama and his gang of murdering thugs off the map was placed on President Bush's dest TWO DAYS BEFORE the tragedy. oooops! It would appear our President had plans for OSAMA before the horrendous attack upon our nation even took place. hehe
