There was a report on Brit Hume's Special Report program detailing Democratic accusations of Bush Administration midhandlement of the situation prior to 9/11, after the report mentioned yesterday. They had clips of Gephardt and Daschle's response to it, but then said that later in the day, Bob Graham and Joe Lieberman had moved away from accusations of mishandlement.

I have feeling however that the Democrats are still going to try to use this against Bush (a la McKinney)

The report also mentioned that Congressional committees had the same information, going against Democratic statements that they weren't informed.

They may "back" away, however accusations will be ubiquitous as they are tacitly implied. It wouls be inpolitic to do otherwise.

I saw the report, and the key is that over the last 24 hours the democrats and media have morphed the Presidents daily briefing about general threats into a
"warning".That, of course, is a false assertion based on the available information on the topic. Bottom line, the media is in full pack journalism mode carrying the water for democrats.

Perhaps Graham and Liarman noticed the Drudge Report.

I don't think so. I think the Dems all realize that the person who dropped the ball was their own beloved Bill Clinton, who ignored everything that came his way unless it dealt with the supposed VRWC, and his hench-dog, Janet Reno.
Still, this is very typical of Dem attacks. Plant a lie, and then back away, making pious gestures of horror, when it is revealed to be such.

The lovely and talented Senator John Edwards is all over the BBC "not wanting to exploit the story", while he exploits the story and bashes Bush.
Hey, what happened to yesterday's photo scandal?? Amazing.

The Democrats will stop at nothing. This cheap shot shows it loud and clear, and it may well backfire on them by revealing so blatantly just exactly what they are.

Do you mean the talented Mr. Edwards?
To: Pyro7480
Of course they're backing away NOW, since they've got the entire popular media to do their dirty work.
To: Pyro7480
They're just slipping away and melting into the crowd after dropping the turd in the punchbowl.

I noticed this too on Brit's show. This 'scandal' had a one day shelf life. :))

What has fascinated me today is the way the combination of the web and talk radio has moved news & the flow of information up to warp speed.
At the start of the day, the press was full of its usual outrage over this, by three o'clock, radio callers were repeating refutations I first saw on the web this morning- and repeating them with anger and vehemence.
I think this will follow "the photo issue" and "the Enron issue" into instant oblivion when the left realizes they are opening Pandora's Box on clinton and themselves...

I don't think John got the reception he thought he'd get. I just watched him on PBS...and he's already changing his tune. They know that when all the cards are finally on the table...Bush won't be the ONLY one having to answer questions.
