Would a terrorist want to attract attention to himself by doing something as stupid as speeding?

One of the 9/11 sand goblins was nabbed for speeding a week or so before going to meet his virgins.

What's really amazing is that Justin Raimondo took only 45 minutes to post a duplicate thread of this story. Could it be the word "Israeli" in the text of the story???

Sorry, dumb question.

Well, at least the local constabulary had the wits to check these guys and their truck out. You can bet the next bunch of sociopaths won't be doing over the speed limit, though...

Why did Timothy McVeigh drive a car with no license plates after the OKC bombing?

I've always wondered about that. And wondered whether McVeigh took care of that little detail himself or someone did it for him.

It would be nice, wouldn't it, if we could rely upon terrorists to be that dumb all of the time?

Thanks for your #51. I knew they had Arab citizens, but I've never seen their citizenship laws before.

That twerp who was blowing up mailboxes was pulled over three times during his cross-country journey last week before he was finally arrested.

Something about the criminal mindset seems to cause them to lose common sense.

Of course, in the present case, we don't know that these guys were terrorists. They certainly weren't carrying a truck bomb at the time.

We don't know how fast they were speeding, either. It may have been 3 mph over the speed limit. Cops use technical violations to nail anyone who has already raised their suspicion, and that might have been the case here.

Thank you for this.

I get this nagging feeling that if the arrested were extremist Jews we'd know this from the report or by now from other sources.

JMHO

That means one of the last x-number of people driving the vehicle had touched TNT/RDX.

Let's see.. one guy had TNT traces on his hands. He got to steer. Another one had handled RDX, so he got to shift gears :). Something smells here..

"But they know full well that they will not get away with a Reichstag fire."

They will if they don't get caught.

Did it occur to anyone here that the police may not have felt qualified to make an instant determination as to the genetic makeup of these individuals or their religious persuasion, if any?

They had names. They've had seven days. They know.

It is true that the reporter might not be given the names or the information, but common sense says that the reporter would ask--and that the headline and text should not be deliberately misleading.

Not to mention M. Atta, who was caught speeding after a warrant was issued for his arrest on another traffic violation.

Interesting. I was stationed at "The Rock" for 3 years back in the 80's, it was and still is an Electronic Countermeasures squadrons and attack aircraft squadron base. Since it is a Navy base, it is an attractive target but I just can't see anything (normally unguarded) worth blowing up. Maybe the Deception Pass bridge, as it is the only road route on and off the island.

I would say a ferry (they have some really big ones there, 300+ vehicles) would be a juicy target. Just drive the truck on and then detonate the bomb in the middle of the passage.

a Ryder truck

Now if they just took advantage of the preference for their brand of rental, you'd see the ads: "You'll get a bang out of Ryder!"

(Okay, maybe not such a good idea -- but it was slightly amusing that a year to the day after OKC somebody parked his Ryder rental next to the federal building in Seattle to go get a doughnut and caused quite of bit of consternation.)

You're assuming that the person who talked to Fox News had current information, and not just the initial information, which was several days out of date.

I think that is probably a bad assumption.
