Coast Guard Announces 25 Terrorist Stowaways Loose in US
Fox News | May 13, 2002 | Fox News

Posted on 05/13/2002 9:28:32 AM PDT by Miss Marple

Fox News is reporting that 25 Islamic Radical terrorists have entered the country since March, as stowaways on cargo vessels of major carriers, docking in Miami, California, and I believe Virginia. They will brief law enforcement officials tomorrow in a classified briefing about the reliability of their information.

I am hoping I have not duplicated a post. I haven't seen anything on line yet about this. Fox has discussed it three times in the last half hour.

The bit about extra sensitive makes sense, the Tucson airport did the same thing with their metal detectors when Klintoon visited several years ago...
Has anyone suggested that this might be related to the reconstruction of the damaged area of the Pentagon that has been going on 24/7?
How many of us cube-workers have experienced the effects of a diesel truck being parked next to the building's HVAC equipment?

Yep! There goes our gasoline prices again. This sure is a strange one. It's really blazing.

This blaze is in an olefin unit. That makes plastics, pharamceuticals, and other non-fuel stock. It shouldn't have any effect on gasoline prices.

As long as we continue on business as usual, this sort of success will continue.

In the meantime, we confiscate knitting needles from 80 year old grandmothers, strip search 6 year olds and continue to issue terrorist-country visas by the thousands. Can't do any profiling here, can we? Might upset the Left!

If we had taken steps since Sept 11th to round up and deport the millions of illegal aliens still meandering blissfully around this country, these guys would have a lot harder time hiding out today and people would be a lot less likely to shelter them if they knew they faced jail time. Why, even our local law-enforcement is not even allowed to do anything about known illegal aliens except notify the inept INS who then obligingly turn them loose.

We richly deserve to reap what we have sown for our corporate stupidity and inability to prosecute anything but a politially correct "war".

But fear not, dear friends. When our casualties approach a million or so dead, a few of our cities are uninhabitable forever, and our wealth losses are deep in the trillions of dollars - then, and only then, will we get serious! Hopefully, it won't be too late to save this country for real.

That's just the traditional pre-summer driving season refinery fire. Happens every year.

Yep. Been a tradition here in California for years.

I would imagine they discovered this information from another source, not from watching 25 people get off the boat.

we cannot be sure our spineless 'authorities' didn't simply watch....

Not much else on Fox about the Pentagon. The paint thinner theory is from this thread:

From an Eastern European nation, perhaps? </sarcasm

Did they happen to mention how many "stowaways" or illegals enter this country aboard cargo vessels each and every year? I'll bet INS doesn't want that LARGE number coming to light. These ports are sieves.

As I watch the containers roll down the highways and over the rails, I often have wondered what was in them, since only about 1% are inspected.

I don't know how quickly it is possible to develop security for this situation. I know that there were discussions about it right after September 11, and I do know that they are doing radioactive detection in the ports.

If you shut all shipping down, the economy will grind to a halt. This is a tough problem to fix quickly, but it does need to be fixed.

No, the nuclear reactor story was from the Eastern European source.

You know, your sarcasm is not helping the situation. Do you not think that perhaps this is a situation that should be taken seriously? Or would you just like to mock everything until we have a nuclear blast here on our soil?

Let's calm down and think strategically. If there are 25 folks in the US and waiting until July 4th to do some damage at a pre-determined target, then we can analyze that.

They will need money. They will need a vehicle. They will need a place to stay out of site. They will also need things to attack with. All of this means that either they need to meet up with a hidden sleeper cell within the US or they need to contact someone who will wire them a lot of money, that they can get their hands on.

Based on all the questionings and immigration detentions that have occured, most of the high probability sleeper cells have probably been disrupted or know that they will be found out quickly if they help out in any kind of attack planning. This means that the FBI, might get a tip from a cell participant or the terrorists will be denied help.

OK, so do the terroist stowaways, just go down to Western Union and wait for their wire transfer? No, and the US government has really cracked down on a lot of phoney money movement schemes, so there is a good chance these guys might get caught trying to get money from an outside source. I have some personal experience recently that even bank fraud schemes to get money are being investigated at a very high level.

There may or may not be some terroists in the Country, but people are much more alert now and the methods of funding them that have been used in the past are drying up quickly.

This means that any terrorists will likely draw attension to themselves sooner. Hopefully with good police work, this will result in their capture before they do any harm. Remember that the last time the police had many of the terrorists in their hands, but let them go. Hopefully this time, they won't let suspects go as quickly

Who the heck said anything about a nuclear blast? Why do you find it necessary to trash anyone who questions the overblown bureaucracy that has proved woefully inadequate and unwilling in guarding our borders? Is sarcasm more of a threat to national security than our government's unwillingness to be politically incorrect?
