Good morning. You two are such fun.
Misty, what the heck are you doing up so early? And for that matter, what the heck am I doing up so early? I couldn't sleep because I wanted to come to the Canteen and read the troops' mail! Am I addicted or loony, or what?
Coffee! I need coffee!
Jen -- PS, 8 year-olds still take long naps, don't they?

OMG, I forgot all about your 8 yr old! I will pray for your sister today, btw!
I fell asleep early and then woke up because I felt like I wanted some tea. And now I find myself perusing FR! :)

He's 'my' 8-y/o for three days while my sis is in the hospital. Don't know if I could handle this 'live wire' for much longer than that! He's all boy! Many thanks for your prayers. They do make a difference and I appreciate it so much. Jen

Boy, do I ever understand that!!! However, I love playing Nintendo and when my brother was in the hospital I kept his son and daughter here for a few days. It was great fun cause his 8 yr old son loves nintendo as much or more than I do! :) The 5 yr old girl has gotten pretty darn good at it too!

Actually it was pretty nice yesterday for Mother's Day, but it had been pretty cold and windy all last week. I am trying to get rid of this awful cold and actually feel fairly decent right now. :) My daughter loaded me up with some Theraflu and it really seems to have helped! :)

Never Forget...
Ground Zero from above as seen by 101st Airborne Division troops (Air Assault) while enroute to Afghanistan.
"It was definitely a sobering moment, (a reminder) of what we're doing here (in Kandahar)," said Spc. XXX XXXXX, Company D, 311th Military Intelligence, ground surveillance. "It brought it back to the front of my mind, of why we're doing this, by seeing those two barren sites."

Isn't that a spectacular view of the devastation?! My sister-in-law was in a train beneath the twin towers at the time of the attack. What a horrifying experience that was for so many people. How can we possibly ever forget! The pictures of the people in the building will live within us forever. :(

Re your #4, good post. I'd like to thank you and Snow Bunny and everyone else here for your daily efforts.
A little info on myself, I'm stationed in Japan and have been here for over 12 years. Not complaining, it's by choice. My wife is Japanese and although we will eventually retire in the States, I have promised her we will stay here as long as we can until then, and so far I've been pretty sucessful.
Anyway, because of this, I very rarely get to talk to an American who isn't in, or in some way related to, the military.
I appreciate FR and the USO Canteen because it gives me a chance to hear what regular Americans are thinking. Thanks again to all of you.
