The end of another school year, the beginning of commencement ceremonies. That means speakers of all occupations giving commencement speeches that most people forget within a couple of days. This afternoon at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas, Former President George H.W. Bush gave the commencement address at the University of St. Thomas.
Former presidents giving commencement speeches is nothing new; However, despite being nearly ten years removed from elected office, there are people (leftists, socialists, anti-capitalists, etc.) who still despise this man and demonstrated against his presence in front of the convention center. Members of the H.A.T. FR chapter made sure their demonstration did not go unanswered.
Six members of the H.A.T. FR chapter confronted at most 20 members of various left-wing organizations. Freeper signs included messages supporting the United States, supporting Israel, friendly greetings to Fmr. President Bush, promoting FreeRepublic, and denouncing terrorism. We also had one large U.S. Flag (no Freep is complete without one). Several motorists honk their horns in support of our efforts, while NO ONE honked their horns in support of the leftists.
The Freep lasted a little less than an hour under pleasant skies and presence of local police officers. Afterwards we meet at the Spanish Flower for some Mexican food.

BobbyD - Area scope out and determined the exact location of the Freep. Also took pictures of the Freep.
Dix - Sign assembleage and talked to a member of the Houston Chronicle.
Eaker - Sign maker, assembleage, and slogan leader.
Flyer - Sign maker, and took pictures of the Freep.
Humblegunner - Allowed for the use of his home for sign assembly, took pictures of the Freep, and flag bearer.
PetroniDE - Found out about the leftist protest and talked to a journalist of a small independent newspaper.

Here's the first photos of our FReep.I just saw that our local FOX affiliate did a story on the former President's address and they reported, with video, the Socialists protesters. Not one mention of the President's supporters. I will post contact info later if anyone wants to discuss this with them.

It's pretty amazing when you think about it: You were only out there for about an hour, just an hour out of your day, and the reward will keep you glowing for days, weeks maybe.
Freeping is not time intensive and you guys proved it today. And better yet, it looks like you've picked up another Houston freeper right on this thread.
