In the buckle of the bible belt, Carthage, Mo.,PC is reining in the local high school.Today the students of the school were required to fill out a survey about their feelings related to guns. One of the questions ask if there were guns in the home in which the student lived. Another ask if the student had discussed guns with his doctor. Why does a school need any information about a student's feelings or lack of feelings about guns? Who could be behind such an intrusion into the home?

I'm with you. Hard pressed to think the teacher faxed them to Janet Reno during her lunch break.

When my daughter was in 1st she had to count the number of windows in our house. Should I be worried??

Teachers are always doing things like this. When I was in 7th grade, we were given some math problem, probably involving income taxes. We were told to get our father's yearly income, and start with that figure. So I asked my dad how much he made. He and my mom made it very clear that it was no one's business. I told the teacher and he had me do something else, I forget what. Heck, I didn't learn my dad's income for another 20 years!

schools in colorado had option on assignment for 4th graders to draw a floor plan of your house...why does a school need that????

My fourth grader drew a floor plan so she could design escape routes as part of fire safety week. Nothing sinister.

I would remind the pc 60's throwbacks that the Beatles wrote "Happiness is a warm gun".

What your doctor did is known in medicine as a "boundary violation." It is an ethical breach that should definitely be reported to your state's medical regulatory agency. In my state, that agency is called the Board of Medical Quality Assurance. He should be disciplined for this trespass on patient privacy.

They were being sarcastic, in case you missed it.
