Please meet Joe Brower
I had fun hanging out of a Huey at 2,000 feet!
Pictures were taken when Joe was assigned to the Infantry Training School and 5th MAB on Camp Pendleton, Ca. 1981.
Joe was a USN Corpsman who volunteered for duty with the FMF. He went to Great Lakes for both basic and Hospital Corps school.

"JOLLY Green" is performed by Bull Durham and Saul Broudy. This song about the "Jolly Green Giant" or Sikorsky HH3E/HH-53E, a large reconnaissance helicopter used to pick up downed American flyers, circulated widely among Air Force singers in Vietnam and Thailand throughout the war.
James Patterson (BULL) Durham, a veteran of the Korean War, served with the 362nd Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron at Pleiku, 1969-1970, and in his own words, "flew 175 missions in a magnificent Gooney Bird (EC-47)--1942 vintage--older than my co-pilot." He toured Army camps in the central highlands with a GI country band, singing and collecting songs, and assembled the largest manuscript collection of songs of the war.
Saul Broudy served as a laundry and bath platoon leader, 96th Quartermaster Battalion, 1st Logistical Command, at Phan Rang, 1966-1967, but learned many of his songs from member of the 148th Assault Helicopter Company ("Blue Stars") stationed just down the road.

I just wanted to let all of our troops know that I am praying for them. Thank you for all that you are doing to keep our nation free. I know that I can go to bed tonight knowing that I live in a country that is safe and free, and that is because you are out there keeping it that way.
And I will never forget why you have been called away from your family and loved ones. Thank you - "LET'S ROLL"!

BTW, Flagman, Since we're talking BAD BOYZ here. How BAD are you? This was me in my Bureau of Prisons days, convinced???
But now this is just little ole me...
BTW, almost sundown in the Dakota's, I'm ridin' your way Cowgirl:)
To: Scuttlebutt
Doc, you should clarify your acronyms. For the Marines, TAD means 'Temporary Additional Duty'.
For the sailors, it means 'Touring Around Drunk".
LOL! Well, for me, it meant the former. I've never been a drinker, even when I had a good excuse. $;-)

LOL.....I had just written to MistyCA about it too. haaha
It would be fun and we could all plan it way in advance, so we can all make it. Like next spring or something, hahahaa
Maybe even JimRob would come too. giggle. That would be a real treat.
To: Snow Bunny
I guess the guys (and bad boyz) will want to come too, huh? I think FallGuy's idea of having a gathering in Portland is great! I've been there once before and it's so beautiful. I think you are going to love living in Oregon. And it's so cool that many of the Canteen regulars live there too.
