Perhaps the moderator should be pinged to change the title to 'assassinated'?

So in the space of a couple of hours, he's already gone from "right-wing" to "far right". If they can just move him far enough to the right, they'll be able to imply that maybe he deserved it.

Shot three times in the head and he is still alive?!
Somebody alert Jocelyn Elders. They have safer bullets and safer guns in the Netherlands!

Thanks. I pray he will not die. We need him.

The flamboyant, shaven-headed former academic and columnist leads an openly gay lifestyle, supports personal liberties, and has laid claim to leadership of Holland's perennially vacant political right. An open gay leading the right? That's interesting.
If he's not dead, he soon will be. Three bullets to the head has to be fatal.
I'm hoping there is a backlash against whichever group is associated with the assassin. This might actually be a political plus for the movement. We'll have to see.

The Left strikes! The only question is whether it's the socialist left or some immigrant (Moslems) group wanting to continue feeding at the public trough in the Netherlands!

Side note, great profile story.

Netherlands has lots of problems with Muslim youth terrorizing the local populations. I guess this is what's in store for all who oppose radical Islam's grabs for territorial domination. Maybe the US will wake up.

Your joke may be far closer to the truth than you intended. The only reason this assassination might provoke any concern or outrage over at the New York Times is the fact that he was gay. Had it been a left-winger murdered, we would be preparing for a month of in-depth coverage of how violent and extreme the right is, and how likely multiple assassinations of the left in the US was just around the corner, as long as Bush is in office, guns are legal, and campaigns are not entirely publicly funded.

It sounds as though the assassin has succeeded. This is tragic. I hope the people chasing the perp either chased him down or got a good ID, but I suspect the killer knew exactly what he was doing.
Because Fortuyn was murdered, you can bet this'll make the conservative movement in the Netherlands stronger, not weaker, achieving the exact opposite of the goal the assassin set out to do.

I am just sick over this for your country! How terrible!

I remember reading a muslim cleric stating that homosexuals should be killed. He made an exception for Mr. Fortuyn. Good thing Le Pen hadn't been much of a threat to the EU-nuchs. Islamiis and EU'sies would be my guess.
