WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush and top members of his administration mingled and shared laughs Saturday with Washington reporters, insiders and some outsiders -- including famed British rocker Ozzy Osbourne -- at this year's White House Correspondents dinner.

Comedian Drew Carey was on hand to provide the entertainment during the more than three-hour event, doing stand-up comedy for the president and more than 1,800 guests, from top White House adviser Karl Rove to hard rocker turned reality show star Ozzy Osbourne.

Bush doesn't have any control over who is invited... Besides Osbourne likes Bush.

Didn't Ozzy also write a song called, "Thank God for the Bomb?"

I will and already have formed an opinion on this dirt bag.

I've only seen a few minutes of Osbourne's television show on MTV. In the segment I saw, he was telling his pot-head son of the perils of drug use. Osbourne's brain is obviously fried from his killing of brain cells over the years, and he was reminding his son of that fact. Osbourne then was the concerned dad in a discussion with his dating daughter. I'm not sure that describing him as a "dirt bag" is accurate for this stage of his life.

"I believe that in a time of war, there should be no partying until the war is over and our boys are home safely. "

That's the same thing my parents used to say about Bob Hope making all those trips to Europe, Korea, and Vietnam. And those USO dances- terrible! Don't even get me started about the baseball games and Oscar shows during WWII. Think about it, if we would have realized that war is no time to party maybe Glenn Miller would have lived to a ripe old age!

Ozzy loves the US, it has been very good to him. Look, Ozzy was a product of a very weird time in our history. The show is a hoot, it's somewhat harmless, I think it's good that the President has him on our side. At least he's not a weasel like other musicians that wouldn't be caught dead with Bush.

Why do you call George Bush a demeaning name like "SHRUB"??? That is an insult!

From the article:

The correspondents' dinner, now in its 88th year, has become an occasion for self-deprecating humor from presidents.

So Juanterm Junior establishes a new standard for "self-deprecating" by slumming around with sleeze bags like Ozzy Osbourne, and the humorless bushbots get their thongs in a wedgie when somebody calls him "The Shrub".

Go figure.

Makes you wonder what hysteria would result if Dubya gave Oprah a big smooch!

Oooops! Been there, done that, haven't we?

Bwahahahahahaha!

It's 2002, and Satanism is cool now, man! I LOVE listening to screaming about the virtues of murder and sucide, and the Forces of Darkness triumphing over everything that is good! It's HILARIOUS!! Long live Ozzy! Long live Satan! Long live Allah! Long live everything putrid, and depressing, and dark, and mediocre, and false! It's now officially the "in" thing!

"It is better to be humble than to look stupid paying attention to the likes of Ozzy Osborne and joking it up with him, trying to appeal to the young skulls full of mush who will never vote for you anyway."

Rambo is an imaginary character created by a liberal Hollywood-type, and used to capitalize on the plight of US service men returning home from the Vietnam war.

You have a bit of nerve taking the president to task over some funny remarks made at a dinner reception while insulting our servicemen by using "Rambo" as a monicker.

Not only that, but Ozzy's fans are far from being "young skulls", considering the fact that Black Sabbath has been around for more than thirty years now.

Grow up.

All right, I know they had to invite Helen Thomas, but why in the world did they let her sit at the President's table? Sheesh.

Actually Ozzy is a Tory and detests anti-war liberals

Really??? I would never have guessed that from his lyrics. Almost to a one, his songs are composed of the typical self-righteous, liberal lyrics which reveal that he is a self-pitying person who apparently truly believes he is the one who discovered evil. From his songs, I would have thought he was one of those Barbara Streisands with a despairing, hopeless twist.

A tory! Imagine that!

As for Satanic, I have seen pictures of satan worshippers dressed in similar manner.

Dressing evil doesn't make you evil ---look at Halloween. True evil dresses like the Clintons, Satan is deceptive.

What is very refreshing about Ozzie is that he likes Americans and he isn't one of those arrogant celebrities that think they should preach to us. I'm glad his type is there in the White House instead of Bono of U2, Cher, Julia Roberts, Alec Baldwin and the many others who think their fame and celebrity makes them better than common Americans and that we should think they have a political opinion worth anything.
