WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush and top members of his administration mingled and shared laughs Saturday with Washington reporters, insiders and some outsiders -- including famed British rocker Ozzy Osbourne -- at this year's White House Correspondents dinner.
Comedian Drew Carey was on hand to provide the entertainment during the more than three-hour event, doing stand-up comedy for the president and more than 1,800 guests, from top White House adviser Karl Rove to hard rocker turned reality show star Ozzy Osbourne.

I believe that in a time of war, there should be no partying until the war is overThat sounds like Jimmy Carter's strategy during the Iran hostage crisis--confine yourself to the White House premises and send a message to the enemy that he's got you rattled. If you polled the military about whether or not the President should attend the White House Corresondents' Dinner, I would be willing to bet you that they would vote 'yea' by more than 3 to 1.

He didn't need to slam the guy from the platform, but did he have to address him?Next thing you know there will be pictures in the National Enquirer of Ozzy jumping up and down on the bed in the Lincoln bedroom.

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton (news - web sites) was also the object of Bush's humor when he showed a photograph of himself with a woman dressed in full-length blue burka and said it was the former first lady. BEFORE
AFTER

The president's schedule routinely includes (just recently) photo ops with the Los Angeles Lakers and many other people in the news. For all the hype about how busy a president is, it's a fact that 80% of it is ceremonial and has nothing to do with politics. But this dinner is a Washington tradition ... Bush would have looked like a first class jerk if he insisted on not going.

I wouldn't go because we are at war War has not been declared. Our military men are almost ALWAYS deployed somewhere ...
To: rambo316
No and you want to know something, if I was invited, I wouldn't go because we are at war, and all my focus would be on winning this war and getting all of our boys back safely, to their families.
Rambo, for Pete's sake, it was a few hours from one Saturday night. I hardly think going to an annual function that lasted a few hours is getting the President off track with the war on terror.
To: DoughtyOne
You got that right!!
Whether anybody wants to admit it or not, congregating with these Commies only degrades the presidency. Especially, when filth like Ozzy Osborne is invited.

I cannot, for the life of me, think why Bush would do this. We are fighting a war, young men in uniform are giving their lives for Freedom and the Shrub is at a dinner party living it up with the likes of Ozzy Osborne."The Shrub"???? Well, it's obvious you are a DemocRAT.
First of all, Greta Van Sustren invited them to the dinner, not President Bush- read the article.
So, what have you been doing since 9/11? Just sitting in the corner of your room meditating and reflecting on the meaning of life. I imagine you have also gotten on with your life. Like the rest of us.
Do you people ever have ANY fun?

Like I said earlier, our boys are over fighting for our Freedoms and the shrub is partying it up with the likes of Ozzy Osborne and the MTV crowd, trying to appeal to all the young skulls full of mush. It won't work and this strategy is disgusting. You just called George Bush "the Shrub". This is a Democrat term for Bush. Are you a disruptor?
To: be-baw
Did I say not attend the correspondents Dinner? No.
It is better to be humble than to look stupid paying attention to the likes of Ozzy Osborne and joking it up with him, trying to appeal to the young skulls full of mush who will never vote for you anyway.

Hey, don't be slammin' on Gordon Lightfoot now. I was just trying to figure out if Rambos problem was with the party itself, or with Ozzy being there. I like that song about the big ship sinking, by the way.

That picture is more frightening than anything that I have ever seen. What a witch.

Bunny, you got the headline wrong.
It is supposed to read, "Prince of Darkness".

Who is the blonde on the left?

Okay. I'll forgive you. If you ever read "Gales of November" by Robert Hemming (probably not available any more) you wouldn't be slammin' on Ol' Gordon.

You just called George Bush "the Shrub". This is a Democrat term for Bush. Are you a disruptor? More specifically, this is Molly Ivin's deprecating term for our president. I therefore assume that Rambo = Molly Ivins.
