[history]
A federal judge on Friday rejected an effort by commercial anglers, tribes and environmental groups seeking to force the government to release more water to the Klamath River instead of diverting it to farms.
Commercial fishermen sued the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and the National Marine Fisheries Service last month, arguing that water being stored for farmers should be released to help young salmon migrate to the ocean.

Thanks so much for the ping, madfly. I'm not spending much time online any more. I would have missed this good news otherwise.
If it hadn't been for certain FReepers, this atrocity would not have been brought to bay. God bless all of them for helping our VETERANS with THEIR land and THEIR water rights!

Thanks, forester, you're a doll. I wondered about this "story". I guess I just don't understand the enviro folks and their "fish fetish". :<)

How a few fish get stranded. From April 14 to April 20 the flow in river about doubled do to rain and snow melt.At the ocean the guages were 12,000 cfs higher. All tributaries were up and places where their normally isn't water filled from runoff and flowed to river so some fish swam up to these areas and got stranded. And of course greens found these spots in the following week and picked up a few fish..At Seiad the river is flowing 3000 to 3500 cfs, right now.Klamath basin half is supplying 1700.Scott is about 700,Shasta about 150.So Howard praire and others are helping.Ashland and Medford greenies could give up what they take from Howard if they want to help the fish. That is the kicker, they take from others, and expect farmers to go out of business for no benefits that can be proved, and damage that can be proved. This happens in rivers all over, and it is a rotten shame they use this to hurt the farms.Ed Hubel
