Well, I actually think he might be better off going the other way. I agree that she'll need to be attacked mercilessly, but W needs to seem above it all. You make a good point. As far as running a tough campaign, there is definately a right way and a wrong way. The wrong way is to make it personal. People are not going to buy a "Vote for me because Hillary is skank" type message. Then she just gets to play Little Miss Victim. That would be something like what you mentioned re Lazio walking over to her on the podium.

The right way is to hit her hard, in terms of ideas and policies. Her ideas are bad, and W would need to say they're bad. I think people would buy that kind of message. That, in my opinion, was Lazio's other error. He wasted all that energy babbling about out of State contributions or whatever. He should have been showing people that she's a tax-raising Commie.

That 174,000 you mention over dems outside of NYC is deceiving too. Remember, you've got Buffalo, Albany, Westchester and Rochester (Rochester is close 50-50 but has increased in dems since 1996), which are probably as liberal as NYC, in those numbers, dragging the state down........
