Joined by gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon, President Bush continued his trip on the left coast today as he spoke to a crowd in San Jose, CA regarding compassionate conservatism. Last night, Bush attended a fund raiser for Simon and raised $2.75 million dollars. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Oh, *that* book. I heard some rather negative reviews. Might see if the library is carrying it...

Rush began his show with the same old same old.....using an editorial in the WSJ as 'proof' that he is right in questioning the President. Wasn't long before he put a caller on who began with how he disagreed with the president.
At that point I turned it off and enoyed the rest of the afternoon listening to some great oldies!

The Bush men have a tender side that shows itself in tears at times. It warms my heart. Tough and tender at the right times.

We're sending the book around the dose -- that way Bruni doesn't get any more royalty money -- I think mtngrl gets it next ???

Not only are Poppy and Bar
classy and
dignified people, but they are
patriots. What xlinton did to trash and defile the Oval Office, and how far they dragged this whole country down in 8 years had to have devastated them!
And when I think of how GHW said nothing nasty, but only referred to his disappointment, I can hardly believe how much self-control he had to have! And now that their son has brought dignity and honor back to the White House, they must be so filled with pride!!
It enfuriates me that both xlinton and Jimmy Carter have dared criticize a sitting President! IMO, they are without honor in having done so!

Oh, ok! I think she's getting the Laura book too...am I right on that, mtnchickee? Have you received the video tape yet?

It's
Ambling Into History by Frank Bruni from the NYT. It's a chronicle of the Bush campaign. Many of us have read it. Kath absolutely hated it. I had to endure the beginning but waded through the sanctimony of your typical New York journalist and did end of enjoying parts of it. If you would like to read it, I'm sure twyn1 can forward it on to you. I bought it and decided we shouldn't give Bruni any more money so we are passing it around. I don't think anyone else has requested it after twyn1. Please correct me if I am wrong.
jtill...I CANNOT believe that about the SUV stuff in CA. Unfrickinbelieveable. I did read today some more about that secret meeting of Jeffords wherein the committee voted to have the Federal government oversee local zoning laws. In the article the Sierra Club admits that its ideal for people and housing is....get this....500 families per acre!!! Can you imagine. I hate the Sierra Club with a passion!

I began listening to Rush around August of 2000 - during the election, and he was very informative and helpful during that time. I also thought he was entertaining, even during the time he lost his hearing.
Now, he comes across as a nit-picking, I've- got- to- be -right blowhard and I have also stopped listening for the most part.
Come on, give it a break. He has been hammering on the President for weeks now, and then says he still supports him. Who needs support like that?

Rush did a JIP (join in progress) while Bush was speaking. Must have been C-SPAN or something that Rush was watching while we listened. Of course, Rush's ongoing commentary was hysterical (but good comments).

Did you see where Jeb broke down today while attending something having to do with drug abuse. He started crying and then mumbled under his breath, "I knew this was going to happen." He then apologized for crying and said it's a Bush men's trait. He inherited it from his Daddy. *sniff, sniff*
W is by far the worst though when it comes to crying. I remember seeing that Frontline special during the campaign and there was a scene where GHW was giving his concession speech for the Senate race in Texas.. W is there, probably about 24 or so, and just bawling his eyes out. It's so cute.

Is W crying in this picture? The Bush men are 'weepers,' and they love each other a whole lot!
Which reminds me, did anyone see a clip of Jeb today talking about his daughter and her problem with drugs? I saw the end of it, and he was crying, and mentioned how the Bush's cry easily. I just saw a little of it, and wondered what he said in the rest of the report. I feel so badly for him and his family.
It must be unbearably difficult to be raised in the public eye like that, and then to have your problems broadcast all over the national news. I'm sure that they are grieved, and I think we need to pray for this part of the wonderful Bush family too.

I used to like Carter up until he started to really criticize the President and contineus to do so. He's gone over the edge IMO.

I'll tell you why he won't go away. Yes, he is a meglomaniac who needs attention, but more insidious than that, he and his socialist-commie cohorts want to run this country. If you read anything about Bill and Hill's background, and their rise in power, there is a plan behind it all. He does not, and never has, put America and its values first. He wants power, and traditional ethics be damned.
He is so despicable I can hardly type. There never has been a President that I have so totally loathed. I cannot even stand to see his face or hear his voice.
There - I feel better now after that rant.

I think it was Barbara who said the Bushes are crazy. They cry when they are happy and they cry when they are sad, they cry when they are grateful and they cry when they are worried. Laura was asked once if she was a 'weeper.' She said, "no, that's my husband's department."
I can't figure out when that picture of W and his Dad was taken that HSM posted. There is a teleprompter there but I don't know who was speaking. W's hair looks awfully dark and his dad looks pretty good too. Perhaps W just introduced his Dad or something?
