- 5:25 P.M. UDPATE
BLACKOUT
Much of Jacksonville is without power. The city and some surrounding areas were hit by a major power outage around 4:30 p.m. Bruce Dugan of the JEA told First Coast News that as of 5:00 p.m. power had been restored to about 15 percent of the city.Dugan said there apparently was a transformer fire at the Kennedy Generating Station at Talleyrand. A JEA station near Baldwin was apparently also affected, according to Dugan. Dugan estimated it would probably take at least three hours to restore power to everyone.
Power outages have also been reported in Nassau County and Clay County. The city's Emergency Operations Center is being activated and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is requesting that ALL officers report for work.
So do I,but my power is obviously working; by the way, NAS Jax generates their own power so the base is still up.
