Still open Spunkets. I'm giving the pistol match entrants first option to participate, but one has already declined so you can claim that slot. I have 7 firms so far.
To: Shooter 2.5;CapandBall
I would like to participate in this one if slots are still available, but will need more explaination on restrictions/rules.
Has anyone written them up yet ? Will it be "service rifle" type requirements ?
thanks,
Jim

I saw your post and I had replied to the original pistol match but was too late to participate...didn't want to miss the boat on this one. If you don't mind, ping me when/if you open it up to other.
thanks,
Jim

So, is my stock 20" HBAR Bushmaster A2 a "Match rifle" or a "Service rifle"?
If I install a two-stage trigger to replace the creepy-crawly OE trigger, am I still OK?
I like the no match ammo thing - I can shoot XM193 or SA surplus all day long for the price of a couple of boxes of "Match" ammo.
I don't understand the no spotting scope thing tho...
To: CapandBall
Yes, I'd like to do it.
To: in the Arena
I expect you can get in on this one, I doubt all the folks from the pistol match will want in. Freep mail me a mailing address.
To: NY.SS-Bar9
I think the idea behind the no spotting scope is that some folks dont have them, and it would give advantage to those that do. When I'm shooting slowfire match, I look between each shot, adjusting if necessary.
No reason why you cant use it during practice/warm-up, before you shoot for score, to get your zero.

Your stock HBAR Bushmaster is OK. No one installed a match Barrel in it so it's fine. Any old military rifle can have a touchy trigger so no one is saying anything about that either. The rule on the spotter scopes came about because one minute you have someone with an old pair of binoculars and the next person has a Kowa that's set up so he doesn't have to move from position.
Come to think about it, since the rules aren't in the packet yet, state your case to Cap and he can discuss it with you. Just try to remember that not everyone will have the stuff for this match.
That was my mistake last time when I used my son's Trophy Match. I could have used one of my guns I had been ignoring lately.

I was through with a long drawn out post and then I lost it. By the time I wrote another, you already answered.
By the way, I don't want to confuse this anymore but I forgot about slings. Yes or no?
To: Shooter 2.5
How about hasty sling, issue stock sling use ok. None of the cuffed match type.
I'm thinking no spotting scopes, binoculars or anything, for reasons stated. Just trying to make it fair for everyone by eliminating any specialized equipment that some of the regular match shooters may have.
To: CapandBall;shooter2.5
Restricting spotting scopes to sighting in / setting up is no problem.
Basic slings should be ok too.
I haven't fired my .22 in a very long time, I will be interesting to see if the rifle I fired in Boy Scouts can shoot accurately to 100 yds.
To: CapandBall;Shooter2.5
That would be great !
I don't really care for my 10/22 at 100 yards and I have an old Remington 41P that I'd like to use. The problem is I have been searching for a front globe and a rear peep...the rifle has been in my family since long before I was around and the sights are missing...any help locating originals would be appreciated. Years ago I checked with Sarco and a few others but had no luck...it's a single shooter so rapid fire might be a problem...if I can't get it set up I guess I can go with the R-r-r-r-ruger...
To: CapandBall; in the Arena
Just like I kidded around about that picture. Nothing in that view should be legal such as that cuffed sling.
Arena, I have a 541X target that I received from the CMP. The rear sight is a Williams and it fastens on the left side. The front sight is a globe type with removable aperatures and there isn't a manufacturers name on it. I looked for your sights and so far no luck on the rear sight. Gun Parts only has the front sight blade type for the 41 if you're interested. You might try Redfield.
To: Shooter 2.5
Is that "Gun Parts Corp" ? I'll look them up for the front. The peep on this 41 mounts on the left side with two rather large diameter (3/32 or 1/4) screws...sounds similar to your 541x. Thanks for the tip.
To: in the Arena
Right. Gun Parts Corp. They have a web site. And the further discription of the rear sight sounds like your's. Good luck.
To: CapandBall
I'm in--You've got my snailmail address.
To: CapandBall
Ok - how soon will we shoot?
