Bulldozers destroy Arafat's cars

GAZA, April 27 (UPI) -- Israeli army bulldozers Saturday destroyed cars that belong to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's convoy, official Palestinian sources at Arafat's office in Ramallah reported.

The sources said the bulldozers powered into Arafat's compound and destroyed seven presidential armored Mercedes.

Witnesses in Arafat's office said the bulldozers also flattened the presidential guards' vans and Cherokee jeeps.

Meanwhile, Palestinian National Authority Minister of Information Yasser Abed Rabbo lashed out at the military for directing loudspeakers at Arafat's main office, describing the measure as "provocative and criminal Israeli army action."

He said such measures "proves that Israeli Prime

Minister Ariel Sharon had failed to get rid of President Arafat," and was unable break "his determination to continue his struggle for the Palestinian independent state."

Palestinian witnesses said the Israeli army sent more troop reinforcements and armored vehicles into the Ramallah, renewing Palestinian fears the Israeli army plans to reoccupy the West Bank town.

Residents said they are also afraid the army is

planning to raid Arafat's headquarters, arrest the militants in his office and bring Arafat to Gaza.

this sort of stupid thing sounds like just the sort of thing the Israeli's say Arafat would do if he had the chance.

Incredibly so. Could have been a PR coup. Sell them off, give the money to the families of victims of suicide bombers, to repair the Church of the Nativity, to give medical care to kids or whatever. Pointless destruction is seen for just what it is: pointless and irrational destruction. Imagine if our troops did this.

Just an oddball question....for such a small little country...why seven armored cars? In the real world, these type cars run for a minimum of $100k. Who exactly is paying for these? We know that Arafat's little country, as it can be called, is not making nothing in terms of taxes. Just curious.

Mr. Arafat is homeless , as are his so called people . I think you might be suprised to the sources of his income . Frankly , there have been a couple in the " Big " media lately ... A side note if I may , they deserve to be homeless .
