Great hope-filled post! Thank you.

"The Church's one foundation
Is
Jesus Christ her Lord She is his new creation
By water and the Word;
From heav'n he came and sought her,
To be His holy bride;
With his own blood he bought her,
and for her life He died."
-"The Church's One Foundation" -a Catholic/Christian hymn
Therefore, the Church's Foundation never needed to be restored, because HE is risen! The author does bring up some great points however.

The second was their call for a vigorous reaffirmation of Catholic orthodoxy, especially regarding sexual morality, as the long-term solution to sexual misconduct by priests.

I agree, calling for a reaffirmation of orthodox Catholic teaching was very positive. But I'd be surprised if it gets very far. Some of the bishops (Mahony, for example) themselves were probably not very committed to the idea, and others are going to find themselves faced with such entrenched corruption and unorthodoxy in their seminaries, current diocesan clergy, religious education materials, etc., that it's highly unlikely they'll be able to do anything about it.
I think something more drastic and draconian has got to be done, but I honestly don't know how or by whom. Feelgood religion with no substance has just become the norm.
This couldn't have happened at a worse time. When Islam attacks here - which it will - most Catholics will have so little knowledge of and trust in their own religion that they'll probably just give up without a fight. Nobody's going to want to get martyred for a picture of a butterfly and a rainbow (current church banner).

Leviticus 18:22 '
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. I Corinthians 1 6:9-10 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
Well seminary professors and students... any questions?

The second was their call for a vigorous reaffirmation of Catholic orthodoxy, especially regarding sexual morality, as the long-term solution to sexual misconduct by priests. In all this posting and talking about sexual morality not one word of mention concerning the use of artificial means of birth control. The widespread acceptance of this is perhaps the biggest scandal of all. The laity will rant and rave about a few priests and not a word about this most serious mortal sin. Wives take pills (abortifacients), husbands have vasectomies and use condoms, wives have their tubes tied. So long as people are posting concerning the necessity of returning to Catholic orthodoxy and sexual morality lets make sure we cover the whole gamut!!

"The Church's one foundation" is actually an Anglican Hymn written in the 19th century by Samuel John Stone. It was written ca 1866 while Stone was a Curate at Windsor. The tune is "Aurelia" by Samuel Wesley, the Grandson of the great hymnist Charles Wesley. On behalf of the Anglican Church though, we're very happy to share! (There's tons of great information on hymns at www.cyberhymnal.org)

What BS!! It is like calling for a ban on double parking and then claiming it to be a fix for something else. Sex with kids is not the problem, it is a symptom. not the cause. The cause is fairy priests. They gravitate to boys because they are so easy for a priest. Until the church afmits the problem is fairies in frocks and moves to correct that problem, this is perfectly clintonian. They have simply diverted attention using smoke and mirrors and claimed victory. BS!!

Thanks for the information! You learn something new every day, as my mom always said. I'm glad we "inherited" that hymn. That's why I said "Catholic/Christian" because I wasn't entirely sure of its origins. Thanks again!

Perhaps now would be the time to put an age limit on those who serve at the altar,ie.altar boys...Seemingly boys are picked at a very early and impressionable age. Easily, as you mention they then become sacrificial lambs for these wayward priests...Priests who should have never been admitted to a seminary or donned the Roman collar for their intentions were never honorable. They are not serving Christ' Church but are intent on mocking Him instead.....But within this article is reason for great Hope and we must remain steadfast and diligent to see this to the end...Peace to you brother.

Bump from an antitrinitarian heretic. Now is not the time to be counting. Inspiring to seek rank and file Catholics taking back their Church.
