Tom Daschle is pleading for "equal time" to anyone wholl listen. Former Clinton hitmen Carville and Begala get hired by CNN to anchor the new "Crossfire" in a flagging attempt to spawn a forum for their liberal schtick. Al Gore and Joe Lieberman go on the speechmaking circuit, frantic to somehow discredit conservative ideology and programs. Why is the left unable to achieve any influence with the majority? Its simple. They have zero to offer. And they know it. Whats worse, the public knows it too.
Even "mainstream" media apologists cant run their cover anymore. Molly Ivins, David Brock, Jonathan Alter, and buffoonish Helen Thomas, all are grabbing for straws. Most indicative yet is the fact that ALL of the following former Clinton staff members suppress reference to their former boss in their campaign literature: Janet Reno, Robert Reich, and Bill Richardson. What, nothing to be proud of? The truth is hurting the left to the core and the condition wont change any time soon. Talk radio and the Internet have become the media, the public is hungry for more, both conservatives and liberals.
So, what to do? Well, how about boycotting the truth? This intention surfaced last month when Oregon governor John Kitzhaber demanded equal time, proclaiming that conservative talk radio is becoming too influential and too widespread, and must somehow be countered and discredited. The fact is that liberal talk radio consistently fails (see Cuomo and Dershowitz), while conservative talk radio flourishes, providing a level of long-awaited intellectual stimulation and a free market of ideas. It only makes sense for the left to pursue this course.
Its no coincidence then that last week in Portland, an organized effort commenced to boycott "hateful" and "bigoted" Michael Savage, conservative talk radio host now on 350 stations nationwide. The newly minted "Coalition Against Hate Radio" was invented for this sole reason. According to the AP, "Church, community and political groups in Oregon and Washington are demanding an end to what they call 'hate radio' and have called on a station owned by billionaire Paul Allen to drop talk show host Michael Savage."
Savage has a loyal and growing legion of avid listeners, and his passionate conservative perspective on those who are destroying the country like termites, as well as his trademark message "borders, language, culture", is cutting the left to little pieces of chum bait. Characteristically, none of the phony protesters, including the oft-invited governor, have the guts to appear on the program to debate the host, because there is nothing to defend. Theirs is a fragile house of cards; a vacuous, toxic brew of political intolerance, insulated by the vernacular of progressiveness, diversity, and moral relativism. They are in essence defending a potemkin village, and are taken aback by Savage, and others, who are guiding America on a tour of their back yard.
"We condemn this message of hate," said Tom Nelson, Coalition Against Hate Radio spokesman. "The content is an unbroken stream of hate and chauvinism directed against women, people of color, liberals, immigrants and in particular people of Middle Eastern heritage and people of the Muslim faith."
What Nelson failed to include in his harangue is that his group selectively extracted Savage quotes out of context, wherein Savage indeed rails against a government that fails to secure our borders, while being too weak to confront radical liberal apologists who accuse anyone who advocates enforcement of immigration laws as a "hate monger." Savage is correct when he describes our porous borders as "sieve-like" and vulnerable to easy entry by anyone who wants to do this nation harm. Since common sense contradicts the false premises of America-firsters like Nelson, one can clearly distinguish how the coalition operates. Perhaps what irritates Nelson the most is the truth he seeks to suppress.
Fortunately, Portlands KXL 750 "Home of the Blazers" general manager Tim McNamara detects the baloney as well. McNamara said he had received seven letters of complaint about Savage's show, five of them identically worded. By contrast, he said, he received "hundreds" of letters supporting the station's decision to air the show. "I have absolutely zero advertiser resistance," he said. McNamara has offered Savage's critics airtime on his station, but they declined.
Savages program the same day showed an energized host, ready to confront anyone who would take his words out of context, then use them to slander him. He said he "is as entitled to free speech as the protesters are." But the difference is that he has the truth on his side, and can prove it.
What does this say for the Democratic Party when all that is offered is bile, leftist anger and attempts to deny an open dialogue about the truth? If they had anything of value to offer, certainly they would want to go on conservative talk radio and challenge their opponents with the comparative merits of their policies and objectives, correct?
Unfortunately, they dont operate that way. What a truly wretched state for an entirely bankrupt and inept group of demagogues. The irony is that while they bewail not being offered equal time to air their views, they in fact have just as much freedom to operate talk shows themselves. Its just that nobody would listen. Its already been proven!
On the same day, Sean Hannitys radio program included several liberal Jewish-Americans who called to tell Sean how disgusted they were with the Democratic Party, with one actually stating that he is changing his party affiliation when he had come to the conclusion that it was indeed conservatives who had done more to defend the interests of Israel, than liberals.
It is said that "The Big Lie" and "Divide and Conquer" are as old as history itself. As one caller on Savages show that day said, "Michael, this is your greatest show ever, those who are protesting know you are right, and they fear you are shining the light on them."
The truth is authoritative and compelling, wherever it emerges. Anyone who stifles or stigmatizes your personal freedom to speak your mind, and discover the truth for yourself, is the enemy of our constitution. We indeed have an Orwellian nightmare going on in America, where only certain thoughts and speech are considered acceptable. You have an obligation, now more than ever, to disavow the cultural commissars. But be aware that there is a price to pay for this level of moral and intellectual courage. You will be called names. You may be ostracized, abused verbally, and humiliated.
As Savage said to close his program that day: "You are going to have to endure the verbal equivalence of the police dogs at Montgomery. You are going to have to endure the water cannon abuse in words, and in gestures, that the civil rights protesters received in Selma. The PC storm troopers are going to try to make you feel ashamed of yourself. Theyre going to try to pretend that you dont exist, and yet theyre only going to make you stronger."
Yes, Wednesday 4/24 was decidedly instructive. The truth movement is unnerving the left. You didnt hear about it in print and television media, because, unless you buy into their worldview, you dont exist. But thats fine. You can decide for yourself whether you want to be part of this renaissance in America. It offers you a window on what could be, not the abyss that is. It has the promise of converting the most hardcore cynic into an enthusiastic participant in a restoration of shared American values, respect for integrity, and perhaps the emergence of people who we aspire to resemble, rather than people who repulse.
Am I overly optimistic? Perhaps. Have I seen the energizing and eye-opening power of the truth being discovered by more and more people every day via talk radio and the Internet? Yes, without a doubt. Have I been exposed to a political party that parades around as the party for the "little guy, the oppressed, the unfortunate, and minorities" while working furiously to suppress and silence an open national dialogue about reality? I witness it every day.
This country houses self-serving congressmen and self-serving senators, on both sides of the aisle, who have allowed themselves to be manipulated by left-wing radicals. Take your blinders off and discover who the anti-Americans are. The anti-Americans are those who wont let you protest, if your protest is considered politically incorrect. Remember, this nation was founded by men and by women who refused to be tyrannized. Stand up to these dictators, because we are living in a tyranny of the mind, a political gulag. And ask yourself why you have so few personal freedoms to speak your real mind. Thats when youll realize the extent of your obligation to both seek, and then to speak, the truth. Some day, you may not have a choice.
Don't you just love it?
Common Sense -- Using reason to integrate seemingly random perceptions into ... knowing things.
is an absolute must read.
A classic.
Believe me, those of us here in Oregon are so happy that this RAT governor is on his way out!
The fact is that liberal talk radio consistently fails (see Cuomo and Dershowitz), while conservative talk radio flourishes, providing a level of long-awaited intellectual stimulation and a free market of ideas. It only makes sense for the left to pursue this course.
Could this be because most of the listeners are just normal people who tend to care about their God, their families and their jobs?
Its no coincidence then that last week in Portland, an organized effort commenced to boycott "hateful" and "bigoted" Michael Savage, conservative talk radio host now on 350 stations nationwide. The newly minted "Coalition Against Hate Radio" was invented for this sole reason. According to the AP, "Church, community and political groups in Oregon and Washington are demanding an end to what they call 'hate radio' and have called on a station owned by billionaire Paul Allen to drop talk show host Michael Savage."
And there were many of us who sent the station an email and asked them to keep Savage, even though we may not agree with him all the time.
Savage has a loyal and growing legion of avid listeners, and his passionate conservative perspective on those who are destroying the country like termites, as well as his trademark message "borders, language, culture", is cutting the left to little pieces of chum bait. Describes the RATS pretty well. They are really hurting aren't they?
They are in essence defending a potemkin village, and are taken aback by Savage, and others, who are guiding America on a tour of their back yard.
"We condemn this message of hate," said Tom Nelson, Coalition Against Hate Radio spokesman. "The content is an unbroken stream of hate and chauvinism directed against women, people of color, liberals, immigrants and in particular people of Middle Eastern heritage and people of the Muslim faith."
Is it hate, Mr. Nelson, or is it the truth that is hurting you?
What Nelson failed to include in his harangue is that his group selectively extracted Savage quotes out of context, wherein Savage indeed rails against a government that fails to secure our borders, while being too weak to confront radical liberal apologists who accuse anyone who advocates enforcement of immigration laws as a "hate monger." Since common sense contradicts the false premises of America-firsters like Nelson, one can clearly distinguish how the coalition operates. Is that truly the truth, Mr. Nelson? </sarcasm off
Fortunately, Portlands KXL 750 "Home of the Blazers" general manager Tim McNamara detects the baloney as well. McNamara said he had received seven letters of complaint about Savage's show, five of them identically worded. By contrast, he said, he received "hundreds" of letters supporting the station's decision to air the show. "I have absolutely zero advertiser resistance," he said. So the left disproved mostly by our messages to KXL -- Hooray!
Savages program the same day showed an energized host, ready to confront anyone who would take his words out of context, then use them to slander him. He said he "is as entitled to free speech as the protesters are." But the difference is that he has the truth on his side, and can prove it.
You bet we can prove it. Hooray, FReepers for a job well done!!!!!!!
I'm really beginning to think that the country hasn't changed at all, and what is happening has everything to do with who is in office at any given time, and not a shift in temperament or politics.
Most people are followers, in other words, and supportive of and identify with whoever has the office. Call it "me tooism" -- teaming up with the perceived winning side. If Clinton were still in office, the same things would still be happening to the same effect, and the same players would still be getting that otherwise inexplicable traction with their outrageous spin.
I don't remember Savage's exact words, but he also said he is suing one reporter and her paper over this.

What's BETTER, the public is learning!
The trend line in media dominance by the left is definitely down and to the right. I cancelled my local rag and installed a dish to get Fox News Channel. I haven't seen a picture of Tom, Peter, or Captain Dan in months and don't miss them a bit.
Conservatives who fail to take such steps to strengthen their own voices deserve what they get.
Many who could support conservative ideas are intimidated by the clout of the left. If, for example, the NRA were to double yet again, from 4 million to 8 million members, people would think twice and then not act before daring to suggest that there are "good" gun control laws.
I look forward to that day.
