Bob Novak-Pentagon Says Iraq Operations Looking to September Start
ABC News Daily Political Tip Sheet 'The Note' VIA Chicago Sun Times ^ | April 25 2002 | Bob Novak

Bob Novak makes a United States war with Iraq sound imminent

The signal has spread through the Pentagon: on to Baghdad to get rid of Saddam Hussein, probably in September when the weather should be fine and the United States high tech arsenal will be replentished.

That's what Defense Department policymakers plan, but their cheers are balanced by apprehension among civilian and military career officials.

Some of them are apparently are crossing their fingers for Secretary of State Colin Powell to exert control over the situation. (ugh!-ed.)

The Germans knew we were planning an invasion. They were just off by a few days, a few miles ...

All we need is the order from President Bush ...

The Islamic Terrorists and the Islamic States that support them attacked our capital and one of our principal cities.

This isn't over yet, not by a long shot ...

BU-WAH-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAH!

I predicted this, in print in an NY Post op-ed, last January. Down to the month.

We don't want to fight in Iraq in the summer (MOPP IV and hot desert conditions are a bad combination) and we won't have sufficient maintenance and systems replenishment done before July or August. Best guess is SF/CIA teams on the ground "operating" in August, real forces in _late_ September and the whole thing as "wrapped" as Afghanistan is by around the November elections.

Saddam and his armies will try to inflict as much damage as possible, taking into consideration what would be the most painful for the US/Western interests in the area. This, by all means, includes, but not limited to, the Kuwaiti and Saudi oilfields. Saddam will not spare his armies. It as almost definite his family and himself will be on the way to be saved by Shia Ayatolla to the East. Just one last comment on Bob Novak: he is a PIG.

No, that was a feeble attempt at humor. I went to public school myself for a year. Not too bad, didn't learn anything. Wouldn't recommend it to others.

OK....."MAYDAY"....I missed the boat on these....expound a little.

"..Halbmond uber Bagdad? Nostradamus says 57 yrs to the day since Germany surrendered, wasn't that, too in early May?.....But the May war is supposed to go nuclear sooner rather than later? Isn't May 12 also the 20th day in Taurus? That would imply nuclear war right there..."

Because right now....it sounds sort of....well....you know.

More so than September, hell, yes!

April 30 to May 14, inclusive is the window for anything before mid-03.

To poster above, asking if "Mayday" is derived from longstanding prophecy that disaster would strike on that day, or from the French "m'aidez" (vous) ...is rather like asking whether the word "kid" in the sense of a child, is derived from the English for a young goat, or from the German "kind" meaning "child."

The answer in both cases, which we are seeing massive examples of before our eyes in Spanish right now...is that a word already existing in the host language is chosen...BUT IS CHOSEN BECAUSE OF WHAT IT MEANS IN ANOTHER INTERFACING TONGUE!-- A year or two ago I saw a whole list, published in Mexico, of pre-existing Spanish words now being used with new unprecedented meanings--namely, what they sound like in English, or to be more exact, what in English sounds like them!

Mayday not only means disaster in English, but in other languages the word for May 1 also means disaster, end of world. Languages where the term for that date DOESN'T sound like "m'aidez." Celtic languages especially. It is perhaps its cognateness with the French "m'aidez" that caused its use on ships a century ago, but OTOH maybe not, French was never much of a nautical tongue.

Many prophecies of the world-end put it into May or late April, in other words Taurus, the sign of the Bull.

In fact, I am not aware of any tradition in Astrology or Biblical prophecy that would put the date OTHER than between April 15 and June 6, whether for the end of the world OR for the nuclear/Mideast/WWIII war which Nostradamus says so much about. Terrible catastrophes including asteroidal collisions are put for then.

The Bible's prediction of some catastrophe to the USA in Isa 18 is put into that season "when the flower has dropped, and has turned into a tiny ripening grape" then the Lord would look down, and his look would incincerate the country, and what was proud and arrogant would bring a humble sacrifice to him, from then on!

Were there time, I could quote a hundred Bible texts which imply the eschatological disasters that kill large numbers, will come at this season.

Nostradamus, was not so much a prophet as the world's greatest student ever, of Biblical and other Hebrew prophecies. Unlike so many on FR and other forums, I am not trying to convince the skeptical, but to remind those who earlier have studied and know what I am talking about, of just where we may be, or may appear to be, in prophetic time...best, c.

"..The Bible's prediction of some catastrophe to the USA.."

I know almost nothing about Nostradamus, and only a little about the Bible....but I'm not aware of any passages in the Bible that reference the USA (even remotely). Most biblical scholars lean towards that train of thought as well.

I would be interested in referencing some of them, not necessarily tonight (exhausted & sleepy), but if you get chance, send me some info on it. Thanks.

We are never going to go back to Iraq, like his daddy, he will be cooped by little mac, and no attacks will ever occur.

The bush doctrine, talk tough and then beg.

No biggy, you have your own way of figuring out things, (even if it's based on what is on a astrological site). I just personally plan my calendar and daily schedules on something alittle more reality based.

But each to their own. :)

Unless we change our M.O., we will attack close to or on a new moon night (no moon) as that is what we like for our stealth bombers, no moon and a cloudy night.

So I will predict an attack between May 9th (my birthday and a fine present it would be) and May 12th which is the new moon.

We have been working for the last 6 months to replenish our bomb and missile stocks and they estimated 4-6 months to get that done so it's about time to get busy.

It's only a semi educated guess so if I'm wrong it won't be surprising but I did circle every new moon from March through June on my calender so if I'm right I can drag my wife over to the calender and say, "See how smart I am honey". What's the line in Vegas? Maybe I should lay a yard on my birthday?

I know exactly what you are talking about, borrowing foreign words in their sound but substituting existing English words that sound almost the same giving the English word a new or special meaning. It's a different process than just taking a foreign word and giving it an American pronunciation or spelling.

I tend to agree it could be any day now.

We have to worry about defense of the homeland this time, and that could best be done in the spring. If an oil shortage developes, we might be uncomfortable without air conditioning--which could cause some heat-related deaths--but we won't have as many deaths from the heat as we could have from the cold in the winter. Since the daylight is so much longer, that would reduce energy needs, too.

Longer days and empty schools might help reduce the terrorist threat, too, though this might be offset by more crowds at vacation spots and baseball games, etc. But at least people would have the option of cancelling those things.

Another reason I suspect the time is near is the housecleaning that Sharon is doing. I think they went house to house to look for biologic/chemical/radiologic threats as well as the routine stuff. It wouldn't make any sense to give the terrorists over there time to restock by waiting until the fall.

Also, I came across this piece tonight:

U.S., wary of China, outlines Asia buildup

U.S. intentions in the region are likely to figure in talks in Washington next week with China's leader-in-waiting, Hu Jintao, who arrives in Honolulu on Saturday on his first official visit to the United States. Hu, widely expected to be promoted to Communist Party general secretary in September, is expected to meet President George W. Bush on Wednesday after talks with Vice President Dick Cheney. He is also to meet Secretary of State Colin Powell and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

There would be no need to meet with him so early unless things were going to hit the fan shortly.

OTOH, the administration has done such a good job of floating various scenarios, including the one that says there will be no US military involvement in dethroning Saddam other than advising & supporting his own dissenters, that one can find news to argue in favor of all the scenarios :)

And that's fine with me. I don't care when or how we take him out, as long as we dismantle his WsMD and his terrorist support...
