Don't know about the "typical" part. Have you seen the Swedish girl friend?

Um, No, what was it?

He screamed "Godda** You" when he mis hit his ball. I realize many of us express ourselves in "colorful" ways when we play golf. Most of us aren't heard by 5 or 6 million people when we do it though. In my opinion it shows a lack of class or at least self-control.

The real reason is that these athletes have sacrificed much of their young adult lives practicing for hours on end at tennis, golf and other sports. They don't see why they should give half of a 10 million dollar bonus to the government, that has done nothing to earn that money. When I cashed out of my last business ownership, writing that check to Uncle Sam for half my take from building the business, was very painful and enraging. I hate the government for that.

You should hear what I yell on the ice at opposing players who dare to venture into my goalie's crease. That's if I can't get my hands on them, of course

That's kind of expected in a hockey game isn't it? The fans would probably be dissapointed if the players were polite to one another. Golf is supposed to be a gentleman's game.

That means he's determined to be nobody's prawn.

Great article. Tiger is very young to be so wise.

He really let fly with the expletives at the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, using just about all of the words you can't say on TV in one sentence. We all get upset over a bad golf shot, but Tiger should remember the camera is recording his every move (unlike the rest of us duffers), and learn to control the profanity like most of the other pros seem to have done.

There will never be a "class act" in sports like Dale Earnhardt Sr. -- the story about him refusing to give up his suite to Hillary Clinton at a New York hotel a few years ago is one for the ages.

Why is it that everyone who crosses the Beast ends up dying young?

There are few sports like golf where you don't get your sports salary based on last year, but based on this week's play--and there is an accepted metric for success. This makes golfers both the most meritocratic among athletes and the most Republican.

My guess is that Tiger is a DINO (democrat in name only).

Sport is uncompromisingly results-oriented. Outcomes are based on performance and efficacy is measured in cold, cold statistics. There are no championship rings for "most diverse offensive line" or "most multicultural starting rotation." Field an inferior team and you'll lose. It's that simple. It doesn't matter what feel-good politics caused you to put your particular lineup on the field.

I guess that is why police and fire departments across the nation are fielding officers that reflect the community. Policing and fighting fires must not be results-oriented and performance based [end_sarcasm]

Not really. Did you hear what he screamed on national TV as he teed off on the 2nd hole of the Masters?

Anyone who golfs can forgive a momentary lapse of manners. We've all done it at one or another.

When party activists tried to recruit Michael Jordan to campaign against North Carolina Senator Jesse Helms, Jordan declined, retorting with the glib line "Republicans buy shoes, too."

Of course, that is the mindset of an expert marketer. Which brings up the question why the idiots in Hollywood contantly isolate large portions of the populations by their stupid actions and snide comments?

Funny, I don't remember Palmer or Nicklaus saying those things.

Hmmm ... did the technology allow them to be miked the way that Tiger is? If not, the comparison is meaningless. If he had been miked, I bet you would've heard a few choice words from Jack when Tom Watson birdied the 17th at the U.S. Open from the rough.

I think you have selective memory here. I've heard some pretty choice epithets coming from Mickelson, Sutton, Singh, Faldo, and Price over the past few years. Tiger's transgressions stick in your mind because, well, because he's Tiger Woods and we tend to remember everything that the best golfer in the world does - both good and bad.

I admit I am guilty of "letting loose" a little when I play also. However, I would not say those things if my ten year old son was with me(he often is). Not only mine but thousands of ten year old sons were watching the Masters when Tiger said that. I was forced to explain that using that language is inappropriate.

Tiger is one of the most gifted athletes to ever play the game. I wish he would comport himself in a manner that upholds the dignity of the game as well as that of those that came before him.

I bet Jack wouldn't have said anything ontoward if he knew the whole world could hear him.

I agree with that. Although I like Tiger as a golfer and think he is just another human being, flaws and all, I wouldn't use the word "class" to describe him. The classy people I have known in my life didn't act like Tiger.
