I wonder if Chelsea's in the neighborhood thinking about the Bush tax cuts, drinking coffee before running around the block!

The neighborhood immediately north of Chelsea is called Clinton (fka Hell's Kitchen)! There used to be a bar in between the neighborhoods called "Chelsea Clinton," but I don't know if it exists anymore.

I know! These stations should have some of their employees monitoring FR just to monitor FReepers who are monitoring the news coverage! LOL

hiss sounds like a seam popping in an old boiler. May have been the boiler in the sign building next to the school. If the pressure valves fail there would be a huge explosion. We have a boiler out in our plant and we have to get it inspected quite often and there is special boiler insurance you have to buy to cover the special dangers. It would seem to me that if the boiler went then there would be massive burn injuries from the scalding steam and water.

Thanks to said incident, of course, the evil Carolyn McCarthy now represents my childhood congressional district.

Was she a wife to one of those who were killed?? I'm not familiar with her name.

I'm just glad that people on FR are finally calming down. I didn't see that many "terrorists did it" posts.

Yes we know now to just move along, there's nothing to see, no terrorists can get into the US and never have.

Its a shame because prior to that I was very generous to many victims. I sent her money from my heart..not to hear her rants on gun control which would not have stopped Ferguson anyway.

New York already had gestapo-esque gun laws on the books before Ferguson (Big Tim Sullivan is up there with Robert Moses as the most evil New Yorker of the 20th century). The shall-issue concealed system that McCarthy rails against would have prevented Feguson from even considering opening fire.

It's a shame, Dan Frisa was a decent congressman too.

Was anyone named Omar in the building?

The significance of that would depend on whether Omar's last name was Achmed and not Bradley, wouldn't it?

She lost her husband and her son, I believe. Big time liberal, not just on gun control.

I was only commenting that the likelihood of someone from NYC now knowing what an airplane crash sounds like, has been greatly increased. I would not dismiss him offhand for this statement.

Thanks to the media's sensationalism regarding disasters and terrorist warnings, people like my father have grown jaded over "terrorism."

Who can blame the people for turning to Robert Blake and The Batchelor when the media has made the issue of terrorism seem trivial by their actions.

He was MY Congressman, and a great one. Mc Carthy is a piece of crap. It was a crime that Ferguson was allowed to live, after he dragged those poor victims families through that nightmare in Court. As with Lindh, I wish law enforcement people wouldn't protect these low-life defendants so well. I'm sure there are many Jack Ruby types out there who would love the do these cretans in and save the taxpayers million in wasted legal fees.

Lost husband, son survived but needed lots of rehab therapy.

I was one of those who was saying "if one other person in that car had a gun, Colin ferguson might not have been able to kill and injure all those people", and I was pretty much shouted down everywhere ("no, then more innocent people would have died"). People are under the misimpression that only evil hardened criminals can hit what they're aiming at.

I live only half a mile from this place and have walked past it many times. Trust me, this is not a target a terrorist would be likely to choose. Too small, too obscure, too out of the way.

Being that I know people who have personally stopped shootings and other criminal activity thanks to concealed carry, I'm happy to see somebody in New York had some sense. Even New York Republicans are anti-gun.

Somebody should point out to New Yorkers that states with shall-issue concealed carry and no burdensome registration have lower violent crime rates than the Empire State. Unfortunatly, New Yorkers (particularly those from NYC and Lawn Guyland) tend to act emotionally when it comes to the gun issue. Remember that few New Yorkers have even touched a firearm in their lives.

Tell that to the Israeli lady who popped a suicide bomber in the head in a supermarket. Sees a suspicious guy, grabs the gun out of her bag, and down he goes.

If only America were more like that.

McCarthy said she was a republican but allowed herself to be used in ads on behalf of Mario Cuomo because he was 'good' and was against the death penalty. She called herself a good catholic.....but when it came time to vote for the ban on partial birth abortion, she voted AGAINST the ban.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more boiler explosions in New York City considering many buildings in that city use steam heating systems in winter.

Hopefully this is an isolated incident because the results of a steam boiler explosion are definitely not pretty to look at, given what we've seen from steam boiler explosions on old steam locomotives.
