Christine Schubert of St. Paul dashed out of the cathedral midway through the homily. "I left because I realized I have no desire to be connected with the institution of the Catholic Church," said Schubert, 27. "I thought, wouldn't it be great if the entire church walked out?"Well, if everyone like Ms. Schubert walked out, the Monsignor's homily would have been an unmitigated success.

Marianne Duddy, executive director of Dignity/USA, the nation's largest organization of gay Catholics, called Clark's comments linking the sex scandal with homosexuality "incredibly horrifying and irresponsible."
Follow Christine's lead and get out.

This is a good post. Before any drastic measures are made regarding personnel changes and policy implementation the truth of the matter needs to be deceminated. This is the first story I have seen in the secular media attributing the bane of homosexuality to the scandal. Hope to see more; Hope to see the headline, " Boyscouts are Right."

"and a few walked out"
And has it not always been this way with the beauty and simplicity of heavenly-given "Free Will"?
Fact is, there will always be those who 'walk out' even when confronted with the Truth, just as they did in little Judean villages with Christ originally preaching that people ought to live in light and not darkness.
Human nature, Free Will, Light and Dark have not changed that much over the ages, after all......

I have been out of town and away from Free Republic for the past week. When I sat down to read the papers, I found an article about how Catholic Church Canon Law treats molestation of boys by priests much more leniently then sexual contact by priests with adult women.
Has this article been posted already? Can someone post a link? Thank you.

But few did[followed the lebian out as she left in a huff, (or was that an Oldsmobile)?]. Most parishioners stayed, and many applauded Clark after his sermon. Message to gay-lesbians:" No matter what your cohorts at Catholic University may say, the ordinary Catholic is fed up and won't tolerate take it anymore."

After preaching about forgiveness, Clark detailed reasons he believes some priests victimized children. He appeared to place most of the blame on homosexuality, saying the theory that people are born gay "is not true." It is about time a priest stood up and told the truth!

Maybe later I'll work up the moxie to pray for her.

Interesting. An interview of someone who dashes out of the church but no interview of anyone who stayed.

"Christine Schubert of St. Paul dashed out of the cathedral midway through the homily. ..." Knowing quite a few of you have made valid observations on the above comment; I don't want to beat this dead horse. Rather, let's take a look at the following two paragraphs which illustrate the medias fixation on the "value" of homosexuality in our society:
"But few did. Most parishioners stayed, and many applauded Clark after his sermon."
"Marianne Duddy, executive director of Dignity/USA, the nation's largest organization of gay Catholics, called Clark's comments linking the sex scandal with homosexuality "incredibly horrifying and irresponsible."
Notice the flow of the paragraphs. First the article introduces an 'heroic' woman who maintains her dignity and freedom of thought against the 'homophobes' described in the next paragraph. The following paragraphs clearly indictes support for the woman, and reenforce the idea that to be against 'homosexuality' is to be: "incredibly horrifying and irresponsible."
This is what truly makes me mad about the 'media's' reporting of these issues! This story could have stood on it's own without adding a 'controversy!' Why was it important to add the dissenting opinion of one or two... when the real story was: "Why did so many stay...and even applaud?"
IMHO the 'media' is afraid of truth, morality... and real people who want to live moral and decent lives!
Kudo's to the Msgr!

Fr. Clark should be made a Cardinal rather than the likes of Law or Egan.

Bill Blakemore, ABC news reporting from the Vatican Sunday refered to the "problems with homosexuality in the church." It's the first time a reporter called it that ! Especially on ABC. It was a split second at the end of the report, and my husband caught it too. We wondered how long it would take before people just spoke out and said what the problem really was.
I have a feeling the Popes meeting is about this. It seems odd for a reporter to mention it unless that's what the talk around the Vatican is.
The Catholic church has to come clean and condemn homosexuality to clean itself. Americans aren't all that stupid. They know it was "homosexual" priests that molested the kids.

Edward Cardinal Egan's stand-in at St. Patrick's Cathedral pointedly blamed the priest sex abuse scandal yesterday on homosexuality, a "sex-saturated" society and a constant assault on celibacy by liberals. The notion that sin is the fault of everything and everybody except the sinner is hardly the sort of moral teaching one expects from a respectable church.

Speak the truth and you may be expected to be abused, insulted, condemned, and ridiculed by morality-hating liberals (and libertarians).
Applause for a brave, keen-sighted Msgr.

Look for the gay community to now start their campaign against the Catholic Church, much in the same way as they have assulted the Boy Scouts. It's a sad day in our country when a immoral, perverted group can flame the fires of hatred against what is good and true. God bless this man who had the courage and conviction to speak the truth.

Well, it seems that there is at least
one person in the hierarchy of the Catholic Church willing to point out the elephant in the living room.
This scandal has always been a problem with homosexuality, and homosexuals running the seminaries, and fellow homosexuals protecting each other when they are caught.
Thank you, Msgr.

what a pathetic denialist. own up to your churchs problem, msgr. YOU and YOUR church recruited these animals, then turned a blind eye to the victims when you were aware of child rape, and neither removed the pigs from the church or allowed the victims to speak out. and now you want to blame everyone else. i'm glad i have no membership in your sham of an endeavor. Christ died for all, but never for those who would not repent or act with contrition. blame everyone else, but not those most responsible. WHHOOOO...THE CHURCH OF CLINTON!!!!!

If the Pope and the hierarchy trumpet Msgr. Clark's words from the mountaintops, loudly and firmly, it will be the best thing the church could do for itself.
Be prepared for "Act-up" and other Catholic-haters to throw condoms --and worse-- in the sanctuary of St. Patrick's again. But the Church must not back down in standing for the truth.

Christine Schubert of St. Paul dashed out of the cathedral midway through the homily. "I left because I realized I have no desire to be connected with the institution of the Catholic Church," said Schubert, 27. I'm glad she walked out. There's no need for her to stay if she's not willing to live by the teachings of the Church. I'm sure there are several denominations which would be glad to see her. It's too bad she doesn't seem to be concerned about sinful activity which corrupts the Church and society.
Kudos to Msgr. Clark for telling it like it is! Some folks my not have wanted to hear it, but the truth is hard sometimes.
