Support For Israel Around The World

Numerous pro-Israel demonstrations are taking place around the world. A partial list follows:

* A rally is planned for Sunday evening in Savannah, Ga. in support of Israel.

* Up to 3,000 people are expected in Tampa, Florida this Sunday for a pro-Israel rally.

* This coming Sunday, a Long Island Rally for Israel in Mineola will be held, with Chief Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau. * A first-time pro-Israel rally is planned in St. Paulo, Brazil in the coming days.

* Oslo - a pro-Israel demonstration will take place outside the Norwegian Parliament tomorrow, with the participation of Jews and Christians.

* A large rally is planned for Sunday afternoon, April 28, in the Detroit area

* The Indianapolis community will gather from 6-7PM this coming Tuesday at Celebration Plaza on the JFGI campus to express its support for Israel and call for an end to terrorism.

* Pro-Israel rally planned for this Sunday at 11 AM on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Canada.

...and a review of (some of) what was:

* A rally for Israel and memorial service for fallen soldiers turned out around 4,000 people in San Diego, Ca. last night.

* Toronto - Well over 10,000 people marched from the Bathurst Jewish Community Centre to Earl Bales Park to celebrate Israel's 54th birthday this past Wednesday.

* Philadelphia held a solidarity-with-Israel rally on Tuesday, outside City Hall. Close to 1,000 people took part.

* Approximately 10,000 people participated in a pro-Israel rally in Arizona, this week, including many Christian Zionists.

* Montreal - A huge pro-Israel rally of over 20,000 people this week.

* Two consecutive nights of Israel solidarity in Melbourne, Australia, this past week - first for Memorial Day in a packed theater with the participation of the father of a fallen IDF soldier, and the next night with thousands of people at a rally celebrating Israel's Independence Day.

* Vancouver, Canada - Over 1,000 people attended a rally in support of Israel this past Sunday

I have Sabras - Dance!! which I bought from Israel Direct. It's similar to this with a harder "rock" edge.

Soulfarm and the "The Troupe",
a special screening in advance of the Israel Film festival.

215pm Buses depart.

How to get there:

If you plan to drive, parking is available all day at the McCormick Place Lakeside Center underground facilities for $11.
From the North: Take Lake Shore Drive and travel past McCormick Place. You will exit at 31st street and make a left turn onto Fort Dearborn Street (the street is not marked). Follow the signs to the parking garage.

From the South: Take the Bishop Ford Expressway or I-57 to the Dan Ryan Expressway (90-94) north. Take 90-94 to the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) north. Get into the far right lane and exit at Lake Shore Drive. Take Lake Shore Drive south and exit at 31st street. Turn left onto 31st. Take 31st street to Fort Dearborn street (it is the first light and there is not a street sign) and turn left. Follow the signs to the McCormick Place Parking Garage.

Free, round-trip bus service will be available at Chicagoland JCCs. The buses will depart the JCCs at 8:30 a.m. and will depart from McCormick Place beginning at 2:15 p.m. Please call 312-357-4774 to reserve a seat. Reservations must be made no later than Friday, April 19

ISRAEL SOLIDARITY DAY featuring the WALK WITH ISRAEL is organized by the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago and the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) in cooperation with the Jewish Community Centers of Chicago and the JUF Tikkun Olam Volunteer Network (TOV).

Bumparoonie! I hope we can get to the Chicago rally--at least it's close enough so that we don't have to drive a day or two to get there & drive a day or two to get back.

Fabulous! I'm really glad to see so many rallies of Jews and conservatives who support Israel! You note 'Christian Zionists', which is probably correct, but I have friends who are atheists who support Israel. The common denominator for American Zionist supportes is that nearly all are conservatives. Those liberal politicians who are now showing up at these rallies are clearly opportunists.
