I agree that banning Ronald McDonald is just plain wrong.
Here's my story: About two months ago, I went into the Burger King here, and standing in line at the counter was this huge (must have been 350+ lbs) woman and her three incredibly morbidly obese kids, ordering piles and piles of Whoppers, fries and milkshakes. If you could put it back together, there was an entire cow on those trays.
When I got to the counter and heard her ask whether they could have extra sauce on the Whoppers, I could just feel my own chloseterol level "kick it up a notch."
I walked out, went and had a salad down the street, and have not retunred.

Personally, Im not a big fast food guy, but recently visited a Burger King and noticed that theyd added a bunch of new things to the menu that seem to be marketed towards people looking for a healthier choice.
They had a Whopper made of Chicken and a Vegetable Burger amongst other things. Interesting strategy, I wonder if it will largely expand their market or go the way of the McDLT.

The anti-obesity activists' first target is to "get advertising and vending machines out of schools..."
Steve Grover of the National Restaurant Association calmly responds that many schools have stopped requiring physical education and nutrition training.Gotta agree with the food-police up to a point, just to bring sanity back to the schools. Left-wing extremists scuttled traditional values with their agendas to ban dodge-ball and promote alternative lifestyles. This looks like a good approach to swing the education pendulum back in the conservative direction.
Libertarian bozos will disagree, of course.
Afterall, Ronald McD is one of their own: a real clown, not a true conservative!

To compare food to tobacco is unfair. Tobacco, even used in small amounts (moderation) can still result in health problems down the road. (After all, you
ARE ingesting the byproduct of burning embers). Food, used in moderation, will not.
Anything that is mis-used (or abused) will cause problems.
The problem here is people who cannot control themselves or their kids. Deal with that first.

I'm a libertarian, and by assocation, I am therefore a clown. That is a personal attack.
Hopefully you will be reprimanded. If not, I could assume personal attacks were A OK, and I could call you an idiot.

Libertarian bozos would not disagree, because they'd have no public schools.

Let's hear it for the food nazis. While I don't agree with it, I could almost see the logic in requesting that a cute cartoon animal not be used to advertise tobacco products. But French Fries?????? Get over it...
It's the law of advertising, do what you can to promote your product. For the love of pete--it's legal and constitutional to do so. Bud had Spuds MacKenzie, Burger King had the Burger King (many, many, many moons ago, of course.), Frito Lay had WC Frito. Heck, K-Mart even had Fat-head Rosie...
The food/tobacco/lifestyle nazis will stop at nothing in order to promote their control-freak agendas. Obviously, no one is able to control themselves when faced with mind-controlling cartoon characters. Evil, I tells ya, EVIL!!!
Buyer beware, says I.

This 95% Vegetarian (I can't seem to give up the Italian sausage or hot dogs, of all things) would never buy a veggie burger at Burger King, as it is cooked on the grill with all the juices of the meat. Happy to see they are trying to reach our demographic, though.

The people with the best quality of life eat whole REAL foods (whole grains, fruits, vegitabls, and fresh meats), exercise, and avoid or keep other toxins (smoking and alcohol mainly [other drugs too]) to a minimum.
I still hit the fast food places. The food comes out quick and it tastes good, but the stuff is TERRIBLE for you. When I have my choice I cook up vegitables and eat them with some sort of fresh fish, chicken, or beef, and have all the fruit I can eat for dessert. I've actually lost weight eating this way, and I'm never starving. I've gained more energy and the new mental focus is wonderful. The body was made to eat REAL food, not the crap at the fast food joints.

Blimpie has some great veggie selections - at least I like them.

many schools have stopped requiring physical education and nutrition training. Amen. I HATED gym class, particularly since we were required (in NEW YORK no less) to do square dancing.

It's a shame that you're becoming a knee jerk libertarian basher. This article had nothing to do with LP, but you couldn't resist a cheap shot. Stooping to the KC, CJ, etc school of posting cheapens the majority of your well thought out postings.

Agreed. Mega-bumps for Blimpie. I recommend Chile's veggie burgers, since said chain regularly wipes down the grill after every item (something that "fast food" burger joints only do after several orders of burgers are rotated).

Heck, K-Mart even had Fat-head Rosie... Which made me make a self-promise that I would never shop there.

Im wondering if its meant to appeal to someone who might have lunch there once a week, notice it, and think about going an extra time and order something healthy instead of the usual Whopper.
Odd, Im a certifiable food snob, but fast food marketing fascinates me!

I normally get the Tuna sandwich at Chili's but I'll have to try the veggie burger sometime.
